Difference in holders

Recommended Posts

First, I know there are different kinds of tuuk holders, LS2, custom+, etc. My question, is that I see them with two different color markings sometimes (red & blue).

Does this designate a different holder, and what holders are they?

Also, does the tuuk with blue writing have more/less/same pitch as the Razorblade2?

Thanks.

EDIT: I did a search, and couldnt find exactly what I was looking for. Let me clarify:

I am looking at a very cheap pair of used s15's, but they have the tuuks with the blue lettering. As the s15's durability is dubious at best, I just want a used pair around just in case. My question: Is there a difference in pitch that can be solved with the addition or subtraction of heel lifts, is there a difference in radius and how is that fixed, and is there a difference in height. If the skate with the tuuk cant be adjusted to be like the RB2 then I will wait for another used pair.

The LS2 holders are all the same. The blue means that it comes with the 2.1 blade.

Please don't be hardheaded and consider putting them on your Stealths. I'm telling you, they're going to screw it up. Throughout this whole ordeal, you did not complain once about the RBIIs. Leave them alone.

No, JR, I edited my post.

I have no problems with the RB2, and in fact, the new skates I am getting tomorrow have the RB2 with the solid steel.

I am looking at a cheap pair as an extra pair with the tuuk and want to know if they can be like the RB2...if not, I will wait for a another pair with the RB2

Tuuk is -1/32" compared to the Easton which is neutral. So you will be on your heels. A +1 forward profile on the LS2 will equate what is on the RBII

Let me see if I have this correct. The s15 with the tuuk holders will ned an extra heel lift to equal the pitch on the RB2. How much is 1/32" in mm...arent the heel lifts done in mm?

also, is the radius the same?

If the radius is the same, and the pitch can be equalled, then I really wont feel any difference (or a negligible one at best), and they will be acceptable as a beater back-up pair.

Radius stock are the same. Don't know if the previous owner changed it.

You can't find a heel lift that small. The material I use to make mine is 1/16" which is 1.5mm. It shouldn't mess you up that bad.

So the diference in pitch will be negligible, especially for a very cheap, and very used, back up pair that I might never have to use.

Should I still get fitted for customs by you in Nov (I will be there in Nov with family, andif you are still there), just in case I dont find a pair of retails to fit when I go North in Dec, or ever for that matter?

You may be back up North after Dec (or maybe sooner) and I wont be able to use your expertise.

If I get fitted in Nov, and I find I do need custom, and you arent in FL, you can just order them through your store up north, right?

Does this make sense?

Excellent. I will do my best to find a retail pair that fits when I go North. If that is futile, I will have the fitting already done. Fantastic.

I guess I will contact you in late Oct, early Nov, to set a time. Hopefully, for me at least, you will still be in FL then.

Thanks.

I did ask similar questions a few times...

In my personal opinion RBII with parabolic steel is crap if you're any heavier then I'd say 170 lbs

there was a suggestion that just by changing the steel to solid the problem could be solved, but I can't comment as I just swaped the whole holder with the blade (got STEP steel) instead

LS2 with solid steel is SO much more rigid & provide greates stability especially in wide stance

RBII had too much "play" for me

adjusting to pitch is easy - especially considering the heel lifts S15 come with - that 5mm lift makes up for the -1/32 pitch of LS2 for me.

Never had a problem with the RB2, even with the steel with the cut-outs. Except for the nut loosening and the clicking sound. I now have the full steel with the RB2, so I think it will be fine. As JR suggested, considering my LHS's, I shouldnt open the can of worms and change holders, for minimal benefit. Id just be asking for problems. I wonder if the holders on my customs are different too? The look the same so I doubt it.
