Looking for a heavier composite stick?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, been about 3 years since playing for any team or anything, but i miss it too much and decided to play for my school's team...they're supposed to suck, but that'll give me time to get rid of any rust i guess. Anyways, I've pretty much been out of the loop in regards to any new equipment etc. so any advice would be appreciated. As the title says, I like heavier sticks for stick handling....think like old school synergies. Everything I look at now seems to be super light. So does anybody have the same preference as I do? Know any good sticks that aren't super light? I doubt this guy knew what he was talking about, but a friend of mine said he thought the One90 was supposed to be more durable/heavier than the super light Vapor xxxx sticks? He likes them a lot. Thanks in advance.

The One90 would potentially serve you well. It is light, but not in the new crop of super light sticks on the market. It is fairly durable and with good puck feel and balance. Overall a pretty good twig.

generally if you go down the line. ie vapor X, or V'2. And even some lower end synergies i find tend to be heavier than their top of the line stealths. Doesn't mean they aren't durable, just not as light.

Or if you must go with top of the line XXXX/one90/synergy/stealths you may want to look into some pro stock models. Some players like their sticks heavier. So may find some heavier than the retail version.

Wow, that was fast...thanks for the advice. Thinking a One90 might work. Does anyone know if the One90 "chrome" is lighter than the old One90? I think that's what its called.

One90 chrome is identical to the standard retail version......just obviously with a chrome paint finish instead.

Prostocks are a good cheap alternative for high end $150 + sticks....but when you can get the One90 in the retail version with a warranty for around $100.....there is no allure to purchasing a prostock.

Another think you could try doing is taping your stick with lead tape at the butt end and down near the blade. That will make the stick feel heavier.

You are hardly going heavier with an old school Synnergy - it's about 30-50 grams heavier (1 to just under 2 ounces) than the stuff Easton's putting out today.

You want something good for stick handling and is durable consider something like the Busch Laser (500grm).

Louisville has a few out there in the 475 gram range I think but I am not sure that they're more durable or not.

don't think just about weight either tho, try to go out and hold different sticks in your hand. A lighter stick may actually feel heavier due to where the weight is balanced and vice versa. I also found alot of the newer sticks were so light that without an end plug they felt blade heavy and so I would add a plug even if i didnt need it for the feel i liked.
