I wonder about just getting a piece of laminate and screwing it onto a plywood board, then screwing a couple plywood bumpers on the sides. Seems like it'd be a lot cheaper.

I actually made one by myself about a year ago and it is amazing. . . . I got the plans online somewhere and followed them. I couldn't be happier with the finished product, it wasn't very difficult at all.
