Heatley v. Forsberg?

Recommended Posts

I currently play the Easton Heatley blade and like it, but I was looking for something that had a larger blade. My LHS employee suggested the Forsberg pattern, but didn't have any, so I ordered one from HM. It really seems to be the same to me, the only difference being a little more mid-heel. Am I missing something? Any users of both have any insights? Thanks.

If it's composite it will be a little more similar, little less curve..I found the wood forsbergs to be almost straight. I think it may have less rocker than the heatley as well, should take a bit of getting used to but I like em

Larger blade or larger curve? Forsberg is a little longer blade than the heatley. Lies are the same. If you asked for a larger blade, then the LHS employee was correct is his recomendation. Heatley is a slightly deeper curve. I've only used a replacement wood blade version of both but I found them to be very similiar.

On a side note, what kind of store doesn't have any forsbergs in stock?

Well i have made this transition only backwards, from a forsberg to a heatley and back to a forsberg (or pm9 to be exact). The heatley has more of a curve than the forsberg as well as more rocker. I think I might have stuck with the heatley curve if the blade was longer, but as with all curves, its personal preference. Also just a tip try out the forsberg curve for more than one ice time-I tried the heatley curve on a blade i bought and used it at a stick and puck and didn't like it. The next week or two i went to a hockey camp and i had to use the heatley curve seeing as it was the only stick i could really use as my old backup is way too short, the shaft with the heatley curve is now backup as i snagged a One90 cheap on HM. Anyway back on track i ended up liking the curve by the end of the week, but i just wish it would be longer.

Thanks for the info, I will switch the blades out and give it a few sessions. I don't think the mid-heel vs. mid curve will be much of a switching problem, since there isn't much curve anyway. (if there is a difference, what should I expect the difference to be?) About the LHS... I have three ice rinks near me, but the closest LHS is 50 minutes away. It has a decent selection of pads, and about a million replacement blades, but the only blades they carry are for junior sticks. I asked the guy at the store why they don't carry senior replacement blades (or shafts), and he told me that he didn't know any adult that used them. In his world, seniors only use one piece sticks, I guess. I know a bunch of guys on this site feel that you should only frequent an LHS to buy your stuff, but this is the kind of help and inventory I am dealing with, so online is the only realistic way to go.

They Forsberg is longer, has a rounder toe, and is a straighter blade with the curve starting more towards the heel. They play a little differently, but not much. If you like everything about the Heatley except the length, the Forsberg's probably your best bet. You might want to try the Warrior Fedorov though, as the curve is supposed to be a bit more out towards the middle than the heel.
