2008-09 Goalie Gear Sightings

Recommended Posts

Rick 'The Hip' DiPietro might be up there too. Until recently settling on his Bauer X60's, Tim Thomas was BY FAR the biggest gear whore in the league. He was well into double-digits with gear sets last season.

Maybe he should get rid of those red bindings cus its definetly not helping his game, I wish he would stop switching equiptment and play better.

Itech wasn't "kicked out" of the league. Since Bauer acquired them we have been seeing re-branded Itech gear on a number of goalies. Only makes sense if that name/product line is going to be phased out.

because Bauer has i believe 2 years to use the Nike Bauer Logo, after that it will be all Bauer.

They will slowly change it over to Bauer only. Anything new coming out will probably be branded Bauer. Where the old stuff will still have Nike bauer on it.

Much as I dislike Brian's stock graphics, the Zero-G's are a really interesting line in terms of materials and construction.

Nike sold the Bauer line but part of that deal was an allowance to continue to use the Nike-Bauer logo for an additional 2 years. Personally, I would have dumped the Nike and the swoosh from the gear immediately but I'm sure that there is some logic behind the move that perhaps only the new management group knows or understands.

The Zero-Gs (as much as I dislike the name) are an interesting pad. Haven't had an opportunity to try the gloves and I'm hoping to have a set of the pads at my disposal for some on-ice testing soon.

I though all white pads were a no-no in the NHL, which was why MAF has that one gold accent on his gear.

Is this true? I have thought based on Clemmenson's all black pads, that black/dark pads or at lease edges should be banned. I think he's had more than a few goals called off because the puck couldn't be seen.

i think the all black should be banned. i can see plenty of problems coming from that. isnt there also a rule about no black tape on the knob of a stick for the same reason?

all white pads are nasty too

Clemmy's pads are black and red. I can't think of anyone else besides Gerber now in the NHL that has fully solid color pads.
