One 75 steel

Recommended Posts

First time posting here so please bear with me. I was wondering if anyone besides me is having any problems with the LS2 steel holding its edge ? My edges keep chipping out, and bugger up really easy. I feel this steel inferior and plan on swapping out with " Step" stell asap. Anyone else have a simalar experiance?

It aint the steel, LS2 steel is in so many skates...........crappy ice or/and crappy sharpening and/or walking on concrete and/or smashing your blade when dropping your hockeybag etc etc

That thread only really discusses STEP steel. The bottom line is that LS2 steel is not really the best out there, better than LS but.... It doesn't hold an edge as long and is more likely to break than other types of steel. WHy? Even if sharpened perfectly by the best sharpener, the LS2 is just somewhat inferior. IMO, the only thing wrong with Bauer skates. I really don't understand why they don't improve it more. If STEP can do it, why not Bauer? The OP has a valid point.

same guy has been sharpening my skates for 30 plus years...I dont think its him.....

nor do I think its something as simple as the skates banging around in the bag, as another suggested.

but thanks for the input.

haven't had any problems with my ls2 steel. I think it's one of the best out there. So far I'm basing this on my experience with easton parabolic and graf cobra steel.

I have to nod to the sharpening job...i have had pretty good success with my ls2 steel (coming from REALLY crappy graf steel). If the steel gets "burned" on any passes, it raises the possability of becoming weak and not holding an edge well. Just one bad pass. It may not even be apparent that the steel got too hot, as a few "cool" passes takes away a lot of the discoloration.

I am in no way saying that ls2 is GREAT steel...(see STEP or even PITCH for that) but it is not awful compared to a lot of steel out there
