tacki-mac attack pads

Recommended Posts

when they were popular around with the pittsburgh players, we found out that they made the puck roll like crazy when you moved from forhand to back hand real quick. luckily a couple of kids on my team were left handed so we would split a pack and just put a strip of tape on the back hand.

oh and i liked the franklin ones better dont remember what they were called but they seemed to stay on the blade longer

The Franklin ones are called Shot-Tec pads - they came in 2 styles - one with less grooves/patterns for ball hockey and a more grippy version for pucks.

Another common one that is in use is Blade Tape. I find that the Attack pads are so heavy and think that my shot suffers from using them. I will say those pads are excellent for recieving passes - I feel like i can catch any type of pass with an attack pad on the blade. It's good for the tricks and etc though - check out this video. I'm sure about 75% of these guys are using the attack pad.

I made my own a few weeks ago using some adhesive backed 'sandpaper' i got at the hardware store. its 83 cents a foot for 4inch wide strips. I'm thinking they're 80 grit maybe. I've played a 2 games with them so far and i'm liking them pretty well.

Tacki-mac gave me so many problems I felt like I totally lost my hands with one on. I felt like my shot wasn't as good also. Greatest thing if you wanna do michigans at will though. I did like the franklin one better but still had problems.

Oh man, when I was about 14-18 I used the heck out of shot-tec. I don't use it myself but a few of the guys I know who have sick hands just use skateboard grip tape.

I'll be trying to tacki mac pads in the next few weeks, those guys pulling the tricks at dangle productions are enough to make me want to try it!

I bet those fellas could do a lot of the stuff they do with normal tape tbh... the other pull for me is weight - are they lighter than tape do you think?

The tacki-mac pads are heavier than tape. Also couldnt you just put a little wax on your tape if you wanted a little more grip to pull off the michigan moves a little easier?

HI,

I bought a pack of these and I agree they do take a while to get used to, but if you can just give them a chance and do some stick handling drills with them, you will like them. Receiving passes is alot easier and you have alot more control on tight turns. Of course the greatest thing about them is michigans and all that, but I think i have more confidence stick handling with these than i do with normal tape. Just my opinion though

I tried them for a couple games a few years back when I bought a new blade. I didn't like it compared to normal tape... It just didn't "feel" right. Maybe i didn't give it enough time to try it out, but I won't buy it again... Now if someone gave me one for free, i'd give it another try.

I just bought some for my stick which is a S17 and had to take it off because it made the stick way to blade heavy, but I am thinking it is because the S17 is so light as it is.

just use their email - debbie@tackimac.com

may not get back to you today tho

not attack pads, but...

just ordered Command Textured 7" grips for my sticks as I was really starting to hate removing/replacing the tape

they were extremely helpful, shipping went great and even accepted money orders from Canada

ta-da!!!
