Pain in heel from skates, only in one foot

I bought a new pair of skates about 4 months ago. Within about the last month, I've been skating about 5 times a week and I've noticed a sharp pain in my left heel. I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do to alleviate this instead of getting the heel punched out. So far I've tried thicker and thinner socks, and that didnt help either way. Any ideas?
