In the Market for some skates

Recommended Posts

My synergies are on their last legs so i need some new skates,

bit of background, playing in a mid-level in house league, i am 5'10 200lbs so a little bit on the big side, solid skater i.e. i am stable but i wont skate circles around the league.

I have gone through 2 pairs of pro stock synergies and loved them, but this last pair left some pain on the bottom of my feet (right in the middle of the foot)

i am not against spending some $$$ for a good pair of skates. I am thinking of the obvious SE16's but also maybe one95's. i want something snug and light

what suggestions do the mighty MSH'ers have for me?

I know that this is common, but it really is best advice you can get, try on every pair of Skates at your LHS, and then pick the one that feels best, Nobody on here can tell you, Oh go buy the RBK 9k's, I have them and love them.. nobody has the same foot, and everybody skates differently..

Adam14 is absolutely correct. Your local hockey shop is the best place to go. They'll give you a great selection of brands and fit you properly into the right skate and help you with any problems in fit. When you ask on a thread like this you'll get a hundred different opinions and the guys will swear by the brands that have worked for them for years but might not necessarily work well for you. Although the intention is good it leads to indecision and confusion because of the flood of information. My number one advice is try on a few brands and buy the one that fits the best ignoring all the bells and whistles that come with each respective brand.

try em all on. I personally recomend bauer vapor XXV, but thats mostly because after the 11 pairs of skates I tried on they fit me the best, needed no break in and are holding up really well for the past year. They are somewhat budget friendly too.
