Synthetic Ice Rink open in NYC

I checked to see if this had been posted; and didn't find anything.

I checked it out two weeks ago and it seemed pretty neat (didn't bring my skates). I had never seen/felt the material before.

Unfortunately no hockey is allowed but if you are curious about synthetic ice it may be worthwhile.

I know they removed the fake ice, known as "Glice", after a short time and replaced it with real ice so i guess it wasn't that great after all. For something like the little rink at the Museum that you posted I'm sure it would be fine and most of the ppl using it wouldn't know the difference.

I don't know what that material is made out of but my son goes to a local Puckmasters which has synthetic ice. It is supposedly about 80% as slippery as regular ice and I can see it when he is out there handling the puck. It isn't the same as real ice but I do find it highlights flaws in his skating technique that he can get away with on real ice.
