Player in Goal

Has anyone gotten the correct ruling from the most recent rule book? I can't for the life of me find mine.

I'll look it up tonight. I think I know where my book is.

A couple weeks back...I'm crossing the blue line 2-1. Pass is ahead of me...goalie comes out to play it (for some odd reason) and misplays it...now it's me alone on a D-man in front of an otherwise empty net. It's pick up...I don't want to plow it at him...but I know he can kick it away if it's on the ice...I toss a weak, but not wimpy wrister at the net...he goes down and throws out an arm, and 'blocker saves' me into the corner.

Best part...(?), it was his first time out with us...and he works for me.

I was getting e-mails from guys at work the next day..."Tell me about 'the save'"

203 (f) Except when the goalkeeper(s) is/are incapacitated, no player

on the playing roster in that game shall be permitted to wear

the equipment of the goalkeeper. If a team’s goalkeeper(s)

is/are unavailable to continue, a team must immediately

appoint a temporary goalkeeper (see Glossary) or place an

additional skater on the ice with none of the goalkeeper’s

privileges.

Situation 8

Is a team allowed to play a game with six players and no

goalkeeper?

Yes. Rule References 203(c & f).

A team may opt to play the game with six players and no

goalkeeper. However, the Referee and the Coach must be

aware that no player is allowed to have the privileges of the

goalkeeper. If the team has no designated goalkeeper on the

roster, this is the only option. A temporary goalkeeper may

not be used unless he has replaced a designated goalkeeper

who has participated in that game and is unable to continue

playing.

I think those cover what we've been discussing

We've had to do the player in net thing a few times.

A few ass beatings have also ensued just to make sure the courtesy of no hard shots is still alive and well.

Almost there... now what is the Glossary's definition of a Temporary Goaltender?

Am I the only guy that knows how to find the PDF on the USA Hockey website?

Temporary Goalkeeper

A player not designated as a goalkeeper on the Official Scoresheet

who assumes that position when no designated goalkeeper is able

to participate in the game. He is governed by goalkeeper privileges

and limitations and must return as a “player” when a designated

goalkeeper becomes available to participate in the game.

Our rec league will not allow a player who is not in goalie gear to stand in the crease and act like a goalie. You get six skaters on the ice and you can keep one back on D if you want, but he can't stand infront of the net and try to block shots.
