New skate recommendations

Recommended Posts

I really like the performance and feel of my skates, but the durability has been horrible. They fit pretty well overall, but I do need to leave the top eyelet unlaced. What are some skates I should look into?

The common theme that I have heard on the Easton Skates from our customers is that they love the boot and the feel, but the durability is just not there. The Nike Bauer stuff is nice. The Vapor XXV and One55 are great skates for the money!

I guess my main question is: What is out there that will feel as close to the Eastons as possible?

IMO they are pretty unique. You'll just have to try some stuff on. Maybe the One95s might approach the stiffness. As far as the depth of the toe box there is nothing else that shallow that I know of.

If i were you I would go with the SE16 or SE10 skates. I have the SE10's and the boot is just like the stealth line but the SE's are more durable. My SE10's have held up great playing about 5 times a week since september.

I believe you're going to get about the same durability out of new Eastons or Nike/Bauer skates. Go with the fit that is the best for you. The SE 16 or the SE 10 as previously mentioned may be a good bet. If you want durability, buy Grafs, but the fit is different from either Easton or Nike/Bauer and even though Graf offers a variety of fits, they still takes some getting used to. Unfortunately the new high performance skates on the market only last at the most two to three years on average max so you may as well be in something that fits you right.

Welcome to the world of stimulating the economy by not making thiings with high durability. You make something too good you won't sell a lot of it in the future. Have to keep rolling over goods to make a profit. Unfortunately it has kind of backfired on the North American car industry.

I had s11's and I'm in one95's right now, have held up great so far. The white se16 might be a good try as well because they have the new rubber toe box, pretty sure the black ones have the old composite one.

I don't want to do s15's because they're pretty much guaranteed to fall apart as fast as the s11's. I'd love to get into the one95's, but that's just too much money for me.

I had S11's and loved them...but they fell apart half way thru the season. I needed something quick so now I have Synergy 1300's and they're holding up better, still not great though. They took a while to break in but once I got them broken in they were great. I have always worn eastons and I miss the days when I was younger where my eastons would last 2+ years with being on the ice 5-6 times a week

I had a similar experience and tried some cheap original Easton Synergys I found on Ebay, but the heel lock of the S11 wasn't there. I finally did what I should have done 6 months ago and got fitted at the LHS. After ruling out Vapors and some Missions, I ended up with a pair of Graf 703's.

I skated on them for the first time tonight, and my heels didn't slip one bit. They seem like they'll take a little more break-in time, but I wasn't too turned off by the Cobra holders like many others seem to be.
