Helmet - S9, Vector or Intake?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to spend $80-$100 on a new helmet. COMFORT/VENTILATION is the most important feature.

Nobody near me carries the S9 and only 1 place has the Vector (when they have it in stock). So not only am I ordering it online, but I probably can't try them on other than the Intake.

Any help would be appreciated.

try them on if you can but IMHO for comfort/ventilation, you cant go wrong with the intake. It is very well ventilated and the mission head lock make the helmet secure and comfortable. It is also a light helmet.

I think helmet fit and comfort all vary depending on the player... the shape of their head, what they're used to, etc etc.

Personally I was wearing a Bauer 4000 (I think) for years and it was good, I never had any complaints. But this season I just switched to a CCM Vector 08 and it's much more comfortable than the Bauer was, also it's pretty well ventilated and even seems like it has more protection in the back of the head. So therefore my suggestion is to get a Vector, go for the 08 b/c the foam is nice and comfy and it'll only set you back around $50 for the helmet.

Just played my first game with the Mission Intake and was really impressed with the ventilation. Vision was a problem as the helmet didn't stay in place well but that is b/c I still have to experiment with the fit.

Don't buy a helmet if you can't try it on, period. It doesn't matter what it fits like for other people. Aside from your skates, your helmet it probably the one piece of gear you're not gonna want to play hit/miss with.

Exactly- how would somthing that works great for me fit wise be of any help to someone else? Not every helemt fits everyone's head shape. It's worth a bit of travel/asking teamates to try some on.

Definitely go with fit. I have a few buckets and my S9 feels the best on my head. Not too tight, not too lose, good balance. I used to change buckets around for fun, but since I have gotten my S9 it is the only one I wear due to the fit.
