Un-Typical NBH Girdle Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a new NBH girdle to replace my CG-Pro Cooperalls (loved them, but they are falling apart). I am 5'8" 185lbs with a 36" waist. I checked the sizing chart for girdles and according to my height I'd need a Med, my weight a Large, and my waist anything between a Med to XL.

My Cooperalls are XL and ever so slightly on the big side. I wanted the fit to be somewhere between what skinny players look like and some full-blown pants.

So I'm looking at the Vapor XXXX girdle and One90. The One90 looks an awful like my Cooperalls, so that might fit the same. And the XXXX looks like a new animal.

Trouble is these 2 girdles are pretty hard to get in hand to try them on. My LHS said that Bauer is getting pretty tight with stock since they are leaving Nike.

Then I see some people on here who bought the XXXX in a size large who have a 32" waist, so as you can see I'm a little confused.

What I want out of a girdle (I play in a beer league):

1. Good to Great protection

2. Good Mobility

3. Has to be lightweight

4. Non restrictive with shoulderpads (like I said I'm only 5'8")

So you guys who have these can you help answer these questions?

1. How much heavier is the XXXX over the One90?

2. Is the top of the XXXX pretty bulky that would run into shoulderpads?

3. Is the mesh on the XXXX pretty durable? (I know the One90 is lycra and could be a problem with velcro)

Finally, not to sound gay, but if you could post pictures of either of them on I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

If you are looking for a direct replacement of your Cooperalls go ONE90 or the Tackla girdle, which is a lace-up and a clone of the Cooperall. I had the Bauer MBP (which replaced the Cooperall) and as I've gotten older I appreciate the wrap girdle more and more. The XXXX Core Pad is more along the lines of an adjustable pant.

The sizing is tough sometimes.....I am a little bigger than use and have a large One90 girdle. My LHS does not stock any of the girdles or even the CorePad, so I took a pretty good guess on sizes, etc. and ordered 3 online. Send two back. Not sure if it's the best way, but seemed to work out.

I agree with JR....I prefer the wrap girdle more than traditional pants. More mobile, less bulky, lighter, etc. Although, not as much protection for sure.

I am 5'8", 167lbs-176lbs (depending on weight training), and my ONE90 and XXXX Core pad are both smalls. What do you need a picture for?

EDIT: I left out that I'm a 30"-31" waist.

Well that's what I mean...you are a 31" waist and you wear a small, and Rootski and another guy in this thread have 29" and 32" waists or so and wear Larges:

I don't know what to think at this point. I'd like to see some pics with them on not to sound freaky, but to see how high they ride and how bulky they may be. Since I'm only 5'8" as well I'm worried about being too smushed in these.

Also curious to know what you think the pros and cons of each are, since you have both. Is the XXXX alot heavier? Are you limited as to what shells you can wear with the XXXX?

Yeah I saw that thread, all I know is if I wore a large I would swimming in it. Maybe you can get the buckle strap really tight or maybe they wear them up a little higher, cause the Velcro part above the waist doesn't get all that tight (Although they may be taller so maybe they need a large to get the right amount of protection). I don't have a whole lot of time right now but I will be more then happy to let you know about the XXXX compared to the ONE90 tomorrow.

Also, does your LHS have any XXXX pants? I'm pretty sure the sizing is the same.

I'd really appreciate it if you could talk more in-depth when you get a chance. Yes they had XXXX pants and I believe I was right in-between medium and large.
