Hey, so i just decided to give wood sticks another chance, so i was looking online and came across this: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/ind...rentPage=search So all im wondering is if this is any good (for a wood stick) and which stick is better, this one75 or Sherwood 5030 (in your opinion, and why)

I haven't used any Bauer wood sticks in years, but when I did, I distinctly recall the one I had (and I'm sorry for not remembering the model name, but it was a P71 Peca pattern) was extremely heavy and not a whole lot of fun to play with at all. No shot power whatsoever. That was six years ago.

I bought a Sher-Wood 5030 a few months ago, Spezza pattern, and I liked it a lot. Much lighter, way better shot. I got a wrist or elbow injury, some sort of tendinitis, and stopped using it, but don't let that discourage you. I would recommend the Sher-Wood.

I just recently purchased one of these at my local PIAS and im pretty impressed with it. I would compare to the the one60 woody from last year. I would have to say this stick is pretty balanced and not overly heavy for being a woodstick. It also had in my opinion had great pop. Another guy on my team had one and he also liked it alot.

my thoughts - i feel the SWD 5030 is the best woodie available now. i have a Easton UltraLite 105 flex woodie & a Easton Fibre Lite 100 flex woodie (also had a SWD 7000) and all were too stiff for me after cutting. IMO, for most rec players, the SWD 5030 is the best woodie out there.

note: easton's were P4 Modano/ForsbergZetterberg & SWD's were P?? LeClair

which blade pattern would you recommend, i have been using a P88-like curve for all my life so which sherwood pattern is close to that?

Try the Bouchard. They are common enough in a lot of hockey stores, at least I tend to see them around. Crosby might not be uncomfortable for you either if they have some older stock (or newer ones that are just labeled with the 87 pattern name).

If you look in the top right corner of the forums there is a little link/tool called the pattern DB and you can compare specs of all the curves from the major stick retailers.

I love the One75 wood stick. It is the NBH equivalent to Sherwood's 9950. The One75 is lighter than the 9950 and slightly whippier and in my experience it is more durable than the 5030 but not as rock solid as the 9950. However as it is noticeably lighter this is the trade-off you make. The stick can be had in various curves (I prefer the P106) but choose whatever you like best. At $30 a stick online they are cheap but of good quality. Skating 3-4 times a week the stick will last you a good month to a month and a half (give or take). Markus Naslund uses / has used the One75 in NHL practices and games so it must be a decent twig. I ordered up 5 of them online for about $165 shipped and now with my 5 identical Sherwoods I have no need to buy sticks for at least a couple of years (although right now I am trying out some OPS One90s) and to be honest I shoot / pass just as hard / well with the One75 wood as I do the One90 OPS (it just seems it may be slightly easier with the composite if that makes sense although feel is diminished). Hope this helps,

Note: All my stick flexes are extra-stiff / 102 flex / 105 flex depending on brand, etc. but regarding the One75 87 flex is the highest flex rating offered in the U.S. and while there is a noticeable difference between it and say Sherwood's 9950 105 flex - it is not that big of a difference.
