Can someone explain the different types of tuuk holders and steel.

Recommended Posts

I have size 10 Bauer one95's. They have the stock tuuk Lightspeed 2 holders, size 288. They feel like driving a truck compared to my ccm Vector Pros with a 287 size holder. Putting the steel up against each other the tuuks steel is almost an inch longer than the ccm. I read on the forum that this helps gliding and speed but I hate the feel and don't care about extra glide or speed over maneuvering ability.

Can I put shorted steel in these holders from a regular lightspeed or custom holder?

Thanks for the advice.

If you like the feel of TUUKs but aren't crazy about the longer steel, think about going the C+ route. Same drill pattern (I believe) so no need to re-drill and the steel length will be more along the lines of the E-Pro or Pro-Lite that you enjoy so much more.

Wrong - they do not have the same hole pattern.

Winter - if you feel that the 2.1 steel is too long, just put in the regular LS2 steel which will bring you to the same length as your Vectors. It fits in the same holder.

JR

Thanks very much for the advice.

It was also suggested I add "heel lifts" to make the One95's feel more forward or similar to the Vector Pros. Any thoughts? I just feel really clumsy on these skates, catching edges I never have before.

Thanks again.

You are much better off profiling the skate 1/32" to get neutral which is what the E-Pro holders are on.
