Easton Synergy SE 16 Skates

Recommended Posts

Hi to all. I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I realized that this would be a great place to obtain an un biased opinion.

I would be very interested in feedback regarding experience with the Easton Synergy SE 16 skate. I tried them on at my local pro shop and they fit and felt great.

I have been out of hockey since college. Now 25 years later I play in a men's I league, skate technology has obviously changed over the years.

My current skates are Nike (before Bauer), as far as the model, the only desination on the boot is "Pro STK. I bought them used a few years back to skate with my kids.

I'd be interested and would greatly appreciate feedback regarding the Easton's <_<

Thanks in advance

Dan

Like anything else to comes down to personal preference. My best advice is to go to a LHS and try on a few pair of skates and don't limit yourself to any specific make. I myself love Easton skates and the Easton fit but you may find that a Nike/Bauer fit is better for you. Either way I have found Easton skates to be perfect for myself. The only complaint I've heard about the newer Easton skates is that the outside leather portions tend to fall off after several months of hard usage, meaning, skating on them three to four times a week. This doesn't effect the integrity of the skate itself but makes it look pretty ugly from what I've been told. The newer Nike/Bauer skates seem to hold up a little better but there has been issues with the soles separating from the skate boot and the tendon guard at the back of the skate breaking on the Supreme line. Both models have their weaknesses but they are still pretty decent skates regardless. Remember fit is everything so go with fits you the best regardless of the brand.

Thanks, I also tried RBK 5k, 6k, 7k as well as CCM Vector 08, Graf 705, 709,735 and Easton Stealth 15 as these were the models available at the pro shop in my size.

The Eastons, both the Synergy and the Stealth felt the best followed by the CCM's, RBK's and Graf's respectively.

I have also heard about durability issues as well but this has not been limited to only the Easton's, subsequently a buddy of mine plays 2 to 3 times per week year round using the Stealth 15's and his skates have held up pretty well.

It's been a long time since I have shopped for skates, my biggest concern is trying to determine how much room I need in the toe box and how much they will streatch once broken in. Some feel a little more cramped than others, my current skates feel like a slipper with lots of room in the toe box which tells me that they are too big.
