Stick Impressions

Recommended Posts

Ok.. did a lot of searching and we have sure talked alot about these sticks but I'm considering a major stick move. I have a few specific questions for those of you who have used these three sticks.

Background

I have used Eastons for years. I had the orginal black stealth, the CNT and now 3 S17s. All Sakic curves - it's a 5.5 lie.

Sometimes I have trouble handling the puck in tight to my feet so I thought about a higher lie. This brought me to considering Bauer Naslund. Same curve and a higher lie (6). The other day I bought the One75 and I've now played twice with it. It has a very different feel in the shaft, much squarer and its clearly a tad heavier. Overall felt nice... better wristers... Control passes better.. I think I like it. In fact when I picked up my S17 for the end of an shinny session I couldn't stand it. Ok... maybe I make the move.. So my questions....

Questions

1. Am I accurate in feeling that the One75 recieves passes better then an S17?

2. Will the One95 have the same feel in the blade as the One75? The One75 has a soft padded thing on the blade... what's the deal with that.

3. How is the feel of a XXXX compared to a One95?

Any impression or thoughts are appreciated.

The S17 is an extremely rigid stick in the blade, it's not made to accept passes. The One75 has the "Re-akt" feature which creates a softer feel.

You're coming from a stick that is pretty much a shooting design and going to a stick that's more or less built for passing. The One95 will not be the same, the rubber pad is probably what's giving you the feeling you like.

Also, I'd say the One75 has a slightly larger shaft size, but the corners are softer than the S17.

You don't seem to be hurting for cash, go with the One95 and sell it if you don't like it. See if there's a store you can demo it at. Any friends own one you can shoot a few pucks with to get a feel for it?

Nonexistent.

By that do you mean the XXXX has no feel? Just making sure I don't misunderstand you. Thanks.

Thanks, that's great feedback and it missors what I have been feeling. I really had a lot of trouble accepting passes with the S17 and the Bauer seemed much better.

I wish I could try the One95 first but no one else I know has one and we have no place to demo it. Based upon what you said I have to assume the One95 will be softer than the S17 but not as soft as the One75. Agree?

I was using an S17 right before I got my One95. I think the One95 has better feel and overall I like the One95 better. It feels more "solid" but still light and it has excellent balance.

I used an s17 for like 10 minutes and gave it away

It was terrible, felt numb, and was way to whippy, I could feel it flex just giving a pass

I Have both the one95 and S17 and i still prefer the S17. I feel that i can just shoot and pass with it more consistently. The one95 stick does feel good with the puck but at the end of the day I pick my s17 first. I've also used a one90, a dolomlite and vector 10 and the S17 is still the stick of choice.

Had both sticks this year so far...the s17 was great for the first three or four games, and then it just got soft. The blade eventually just snapped in half..only had it for like 3 months...replaced it with the One95, and I dont think i would ever go back...wicked balance...nice feel stickhandling, and slap shot seems to have a lil more pop...its been 2 months, and i feel like its still performs like how i got it on day one..
