Toe Cap Replacement for Easton Synergy Skates

Recommended Posts

I love my Synergy 1300c skates, and they are the best fitting skates I've ever had, but one of the toes has cracked, and I'm not sure how much longer they will hold up. Anybody dealt with this before? Is there something I can do to fix / replace the toes?

I've got a pair of Supreme 70s waiting for me in the garage, but I'd much rather stick with these.

My friend took his to an auto shop and they put some sort of fiberglass/carbon fiber cap over the crack on both sides. It actually turned out really good. able to take shots and everything like a normal toe cap. Ill see if I can get some more information for you about them though.

essentially the boot is made from 1-piece, so replacing the toe cap is definately not an option. in terms of repairs, they may prevent breakdown through normal skating etc, but you almost certainly will lack protection if the toe box is already cracked. is it worth shattering all your toes? if you love your 1300's look at the se16's the fit will be similar and the new white version has addressed alot of the issues previously assosciated with the synergy and stealth line. the noticable difference being the rubberised outer layer on the toebox and the wear guards on the toe seam.

A toe cap over the existing toe cap? I'm no weight freak/gram whore but I still don't think adding a solid piece of plastic over the current one would have any favorable effects on your skating.

Yeah but we're going into playoffs next week, and the amount of ice time I see in college is still unknown. Oh, well. They'll hold up for now.

Maybe if I get a size 13 toe cap or something and just put it over the top...

For safety sake put the 1300's to bed. They've out lived their usage. Dawn the Supreme 70's. Also a very good hockey skate, so just carry on with those babies. I think you'll be quite surprised how well the 70's perform and feel on the ice and on your feet. Protect your toes, their worth it.

Seriously, this is a pretty straightforward repair if you can find anyone that is the least bit familiar with fiberglass repair. A boat guy would be a good candidate, if you don't know an autobody guy that is experienced with fiberglass repair. I would just substitute carbon fiber for the fiberglass cloth, & epoxy for the polyester resin, although that is probably not necessary.

If you have a boat supply center nearby (LBS? ), stop in & ask some questions. They might know someone, or you might get enough info to attempt it yourself.
