Gaborik Curve Replacement

Recommended Posts

I currently have a stock of four different composite sticks, my oldest being an Easton ST Gaborik curve, 85 flex. I've been using this stick almost exclusively over the past few weeks. I stopped using it, only because I was constantly firing slappers above the crossbar. I've gotten control of my shot, and now I am in love with this pattern. I can put the puck exactly where I want it with great consistancy. Problem is, Easton doesn't make it any more. Is there any blade or stick on the market that is nearly identical? I'm tempted to use the Nike Bauer ID system to build a stick with a similar pattern, but I don't want to end up with something I don't like. I already have three sticks in the closet that are collecting dust which won't be used anymore, so I don't need another.

I used to have Coffey Sherwoods when I played in HS, and I see HockeyGiant has some blades available. It seems the pattern is the same, but is the lie?

Thanks!

Well you can always get a custom made through harrow.

Or I believe you could go through Easton or Bauer but I believe you would have to buy like 2 sticks or something.

easton and bauer don't offer a custom blade option.

The Sherwood Coffey is as close as you will get to a Gaborik. The lie of the Coffey is slightly lower than the Gabby, although they are both listed at 5.5. The Coffey lie is closer to an Easton 5.25. The other very slight differences are that the Gabby hook starts just a tad more towards the heel than the Coffey, and opens up just a little more. The toe is slightly larger than the Coffey too. But the transition shouldn't be very difficult as they are both big bananas.

Are you a LH or RH? If LH and you are interested in getting another Easton ST 85 Flex Gabby, then PM me. I have one in great condition for sale.

I'm actually a RH shooter. Thanks for the offer.

What about the patterns offered by Nike Bauer ID? Like the Ray curve? It lists the lie at 6, however.

I would go Coffey unless you want to go up to higher lie. Then you could try out the CCM Thornton or RBK Amonte.

The SWD RM9 OPS is a decent stick if you go Coffey. I don't recommend the RM9 tapered blades, though.

how abou rbk bergeron, that thing is huge banna

RBK Amonte and Bergeron are the same.

What Easton curve is closest to Gabby?

Gabby replaced the Yzerman (lie 6) -- both are discontinued. Easton does not make anything else even close now.

I was a Gaborik guy, use the Smyth curve with Warriors, just got a Kovalchuk which is close but not the same. I have the Sherwood Coffey but the stick is just too heavy. Bergeron in RBK is also close as mentioned above. The SL and Stealth Gaboriks were the best sticks I've ever used. Now I'm down to a Synergy ST in 85 and 100 flex in the Gaborik curve but I don't use them, the ST's just don't have the same snap as an SL or a Stealth.

I was an yzerman guy then went to the gaborik used that for awhile and i loved the Gaborik stealths. Once Easton screwed me over and dropped the Gaborik, I went to a Bergeron (RBK). I like it enough but I bought a Thornton (CCM) U+ I love the stick and then I completely changed curve styles when my friend lent me his Lecavalier U+. I love that blade now but I still have my Bergeron and Thornton just in case that love ends. I hope one day the Gaborik will come back in a different form, I heard CCM was gonna pick up Gaborik's name but won't be the same pattern.
