my old gear got soaked

so my parents home had a pretty bad water damage last night, the kitchen sink was not draining properly. pretty much clogged, so my mother poured some drano in to clear it up

my sister went down to find the plunger in the basement washroom, she heard water dripping sound and that's when hell broke loose! my workout/storage room was "crying" the wall, ceiling bulkhead had water pouring out.

so aside from the water damage to the dry wall, ceiling, framing of the wall, my area rug, some clothes stored away, my old hockey gear got it bad. a mixture of kitchen waste water+drano probably ruined whatever it touched down there

the adjuster is coming by tomorrow morning to check out the damage, i believe the clothes and my gear will be covered(?)

had my old graf 503, rbk 6k helmet, some easton gloves and cages/visors in the box all wet and drano-eeeyy

Sucks to hear man, I don't know if the gear will be covered but I sure hope it is.

Under normal circumstances your gear would be covered under the personal property coverage. However, the insurance policy might exclude damage resulting from the back up of pipes. Just depends on the specific language in your parents' policy.
