Questions from a girdle virgin!

Recommended Posts

I myself nor any of my buddies have ever played with an ice girdle. Im thinking about making the switch cause i get irritated by bulky pants. But i have a few questions. How exactly does the shell fit to the girdle it self? Just from the shell belt or do the leg openings affix too? Also are the thigh pads that have velcro closures, like the vapors, supposed to be tight around your thigh or can you make them a little loose like a pant. And how do you wear your socks? like normal velcroed to your jock shorts and then the girdle over them?

Basically what i want is, a pant with slim and tight hip/upper pads and a little bit of a loose thigh pad, and def not too bulky.

This may or may not exist, but thanx for any and all help guys.

and sorry for rambling so long

You really don't want your thigh pads to be loose. They're generally smaller than pants and excess movement in the pads will leave you vulnerable to sticks and pucks.

The new CCM V 08 and 10's and the Bauer Vapor XXXX are regular pants but fit snugly, try them out.

Get the Easton Motion S15 from last year. It's a two piece design with a girdle upper piece and regular pants lower piece. I think the current model is beefed up a little and called the Easton Motion Elite.

cool ill check out those motion pants. thanks for everyons input. I also saw the rbk 9k which look interesting but major overkill for a rec league pant. any reviews on those?

The girdle sheel fits over by just the belt, it's not tight toi the girdle anywhere other than that belt up top. The thigh pads are snug but not tight, you would put your jock, garter, and socks underneath just like regular pants. On some of the newer girdles they have adjustable thigh pads that velcro closed so you can make them more or less tight, the Supreme One90's have this and I think the One95 that's coming out soon has it too as well as the Vapor core pad. I just picked up an Easton Synergy girdle and am pretty happy with it, it's real lightweight and mobile but has some real decent padding to it... the only negative I see is the material and stitching seem to be pretty cheap, if I had to do it again I'd probably go for the Supreme One90 (the Vapor looks like too much padding for me).

I agree with Chadd. You really want all the padding in a girdle to fit nice and snug. The thigh pads shouldn't be overly tight just snug. If you are really looking for lightweight and good mobility than you should def. give a girdle a shot. I have one of the older Bauer girdles, not really sure which model, but the One90 looks about the closest so I would say give that a try.
