Mission Fuel TI stick dissapearing.

Recommended Posts

So, it looks as though my favorite stick is weeding out.

I can't seem to find any Mission Fuel TI in non grip, 75 flex, Hossa curve, right handed.

If anyone knows of a place that can ship, that would be great.

Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions on what may be similar?

Senior

Same lie: 5.5

Same curve: mid curve, similar to the Bauer P88.

Same flex: 75 (somewhat whippy).

No tacky grip.

I was thinking of the One95 or One85 in 77 flex... but the lie is different. I have used the Vapor XXXX in P88 and the 6 lie was throwing me off.

Any other manufacturer make something similar?

Mission Titanium is available to book, the white one.

Edit:

Nice! Good call, JR!

I see it now online.

I am not sure about the grip, is it sticky? Or is it more like what was on the Supreme One90, the texture that was on the One90?

Same grip as the Fuel Ti.

The Fuel Ti has a gummy-ish grip, the new Titanium has the "soft touch" which is satin feeling and actually gets gripper if it gets a little wet. I have both and much prefer the "soft touch".

One other thing to keep in mind for the OP... I use the Fuel Ti in a 75 flex, it felt a lot like my old Synergy SL 85 flex, but the new Titanium I got in an 85 flex and it feels almost the same as the older 75 flex. I don't know if it's just me or if they changed their flex rating from 1 year to the next but they do feel very similar flex-wise when both are cut down the same exact amount (I usually trim about 3"- 4" off).

The Fuel Ti was just on sale (sort of) at hockey overstock, but I don't think they had your combination in stock. I picked up the new Titanium model from my LHS on Long Island for $99, the owner had all of them marked down to get rid of them for some reason, I just happened to be in there getting my skates sharpened at the time and snatched up the only Sundin 85 flex they had :D

So this:

definitely does NOT have a sticky grip?

It says: "Soft touch finish with textured grip for excellent stick control"

I'm hoping the textured grip is not sticky.

It's not like Bauer's stick'um, right?

I love the soft touch on my Fuel TI sticks, but i can't stand stick'um type grips.

It is a satin finish, definitely not gummy or sticky but it's not a slick glossy finish like a regular non-grip stick. I love the soft-touch finish, it gives a little extra grip but still lets you slide your hand on the shaft when you want. I've never used any of Bauer's stick-ums so I can't comment on them, I have a feeling they are more sticky than the soft-touch though just judging by the name.

Plaza Sports in Rocky Point, yea they had Rafalski's in 85 and 100 (lefty, I didn't check the righty side of the wall) but the last time I was there was a couple weeks ago.

There was a soft touch and grip models, right? My lhs only had soft touch.

The Titanium (black/grey/white) only comes in soft touch. The older Fuel Ti came in grip and non-grip (I don't know if the Fuel Ti Pro came in soft touch or not but I know the regular Fuel Ti did not).

xstartxtodayx, how is the durability of the Titanium's blade compared to the Ti that you have?

I've used it for maybe 3 or 4 mens league games and the toe of the blade is splitting in half, feels real soft out there now since it's seperating :( the majority of the blade still feels good so I can still use it, I'm hoping it breaks in the next game or so so I can get a new one, I'm not even 30 days in to the 60 day warranty it comes with and I'm guessing it won't last the whole 60 days. My older Fuel Ti has held up a lot better than this new Titanium one so I hope it's just a fluke from a bad batch or something since I really love everything about the stick.

Not true, I have the Fuel TI and it has the soft touch.

I have 3 of them. One of them is about to have run it's course though. :(

The soft touch is a slight rubbery, matte finish.

The thing that concerns me is in the description for the Titanium it says, "soft touch with textured grip."

What is the textured grip they are referring to.

The Titanium blade is the same as the Fuel TI (HT core). I'm not sure why people break their sticks/blades.

I have been using the same Fuel TI stick all season. 18 games, 2 practices and the blade is perfect. But i reinforce the edges of my blades with a layer of tape, and then wrap the entire blade in tape all the way up to the shaft. Including the heel and toe of the blade. And re-wrap it after each use.

When ever i get a chunk of the shaft taken out because of a slash, i fill it with crazy glue and put a small strip of electrical tape over it. Just to prolong the life.

But you say the Titanium (black/white) definitely does NOT have a sticky grip on it?

I think you may be confusing the "soft touch" finish with the "grip" finish. I have the older blue Fuel Ti in grip and it is exactly how you described it, rubbery and gummy, where as the soft touch is more of a satin finish (I like it much better than the grip, there's no rubbery/gummy feel to it). The old Fuel Ti Pro was apparantly offered in the soft touch according to the listing on HG http://hockeygiant.com/misftiprostksr.html was that the one you have? The new black/grey Titanium one has the "soft-touch" which is definitely not sticky or gummy in any way, it's a really nice finish.

About the blades... I don't know what happened with the new one, I always tape all the way to the end and cover the tip, then add wax around there. When I removed the tape this last time I noticed it was splitting, I'm guessing it was either a bad batch and/or I just happened to hit it in the right spot during a game.

Blade:

I guess it just got hit in the right spot during play :( It's happened to the shaft of my stick, i get home and sometimes find a new chunk missing lol. If it is still under warranty, maybe you can get a new one.

The soft touch is definitely on the 3 Fuel TIs that i own, that was one of the things i liked about the sticks when i got them. There are two versions the grip and non grip. I have the non grip. It is that satin finish, like you said. And it says soft touch on the shaft.

I love the soft touch. I hate gummy grips that a lot of stick have.

So, i will give the Titanium a whirl... but i am still wondering what the "textured grip" is that they are mentioning.
