Cobra contour vs. Tuuk replacement

Recommended Posts

I just can't seem to get used to the forward pitch of the Cobra holders on my Graf skates. Should I get the Cobra blades contoured, or just get Tuuks put on? I'd like to get the Tuuks, but there's no place around here - So. Cal. - that I know of enough to trust to do a good job. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd believe that you'll take a bit more metal off the rear of the blades than you'd want to. They do have an aggressive forward pitch. I'd probably opt for different holders myself. That said, I do like the Cobra's on my G3's.

Personally I just got TUUK LS2s put on my G3s. It'll save you a ton of steel, but again if no one near you seems capable of mounting a holder correctly I don't know the best plan of action. You could get toe-lifts installed, around 3mm will put you near back to neutral.

if you can't get anyone close to you to get it done then you could consider sending them away to get the tuuks mounted, it may be a bit more expensive but if it helps get the right pitch it may be worth it. I've had to do it twice and its been worth it both times.

I had the same issue; I had the cobra's contoured, but still wasn't happy.

I put on Tuuk LS2s on the advice of the shop who said they were identical to the custom plus; however I've since learned on this site that the custom plus has a slightly more bias on the heel, which I would have preferred.

Nevertheless, the LS2s are a big improvement, and I'm fairly content. I think if I was to do it over again, I would have tried the pitch 3 holders, so that I could fine-tune the pitch myself.
