CCM 4.5 Edge Skates

Does anyone know anything about the CCM 4.5 Edge hockey skates? I found a great deal for them online and was looking for information before going ahead with the purchase. They certainly look like a good skate and protective as well.

I don't have much information but I just wanted to say that my first every skates were 4.1 Edge's. I didn't like the runner (was it ICM or a knock-off?) nor the "look" of them, but hey I was 10. IIRC not too many people here were fans of them, hopefully they'll chime in.

I have a pair that I got back in the day because they fit my foot extremely well. I've used them for stick and puck sessions before. I like them because of the fit. I don't know that I'd call them all that protective though. I think there are probably better skates that offer more protection, but they aren't the worst skates I've ever had as far as protection.

Here's a couple pictures of them. Just a little more info for you guys. I am a goalie and I only play forward once in awhile. These skates definitely should be better then my old Bauer Chargers.

My questions would be, what skates would these compare to that are in stores now?

I had a pair of these when they were new YEARS ago. They are very soft and they are not the most supportive skate. They were plenty comfortable but they only lasted me about 4 months of travel hockey because they were so soft. You can find somthing much more durable for a similar price I am sure.

I know one person mentioned that they had the 4.1 version....what about the other people that have had the Edge skates. After doing some more research I found that most sites I can find these skates on say the boot is hard on the 4.5 while it is softer on the 4.3.

Anyway, I've been looking at a lot of skates in stores lately. The big problem is the stores around here are way too overpriced....which sucks big time. Just wondering if someone could give a comparison to some of the skates that are new now. For instance, how would they stack up against the Vector 4.0 or CCM 852 Tacks. I just mention these ones because they're a couple that I've tried on lately along with Nike Bauer One50 and One95.

As well, if anyone has a link to any really good deals on skates, let me know. I'm looking for something on clearance as I'm a goalie who only plays out 2-3 times a month. Something that's a decent skate but is around $100 CDN. Not much I know, but I put all my money into my goalie gear so I don't have much left over.
