I don't like April

Recommended Posts

Last April I sprain my left ankle so bad that I get a hairline fracture in my fibula and can't play for over 4 months.

A year and a week later I collide with a large guy, he falls on my left leg and puts a hairline fracture in a different part of my fibula right above my foot.

That damn fibula is the only bone in my body ever broken or cracked, if I keep this up it's going to be the strongest bone in my body.

While unfortunate and ironic, that is a little funny. Here's to a speedy recovery though!

I agree... the thing that sucks is I'm probably not able to play for a month but maybe I'm lucky and it will be less.

True... I broke my leg so bad last year (2 places) that they had to install a titanium rod and screw just to be able to walk again in the future. I know what you mean about not being able to play.

I broke my leg 2 days before Christmas this past year playing hockey. Had 12 screws and a plate installed to help with the 2 spiral fractures in the tibia. also had about 5 fractures in the fibia to.. im just now being able to walk prety decent and plan on casual skating here in about 2-3 weeks

Don't rush it... your muscles won't be anywhere near as developed as they need to be to skate... you run a MUCH bigger risk of falling and doing a lot more damage to the leg. I know it sucks not skating, but believe me it won't be worth it.

I was surprised at how quickly my muscles atrophied.

You had 7 fractures in one leg? How in the hell did that happen?

I couldn't play for 4 months and actually took 6 months off the first time because the sprain was pretty bad and I didn't go to physical therapy. Having a cast on for the first month because of the fibula didn't help matters for me. My ankle was sore and stiff for about a month any time I turned or took a shot.

I don't think this time will be as bad because I'm about 40 lbs lighter and I'm hoping to try and work my legs out somehow despite the boot.

im not exactly sure how i did it either cause it happened so fast. basically i stopped in front of an opposing player and in the process of trying to stop i stepped on the blade of their stick. foot slid down onto the ice and the body weight twisted it and then i felt a "pop" and just fell down. I don't even know how i did it really either. Im looking at playing again about nov dec depending on how it feels. The rehab has been going great so thats always nice.. im gonna ask her about casual skating when i see her tomorrow to be sure.

Absolutely, the most important thing you can do is rest it and let the muscles build up again, i have made that mistake

Back in May last year, i was running the 200m sprint when i fell and twisted my leg very awkwardly. Turned out i had fractured my hip, fractured a plate in my pelvis, as well as dislodging it and torn all the ligaments and muscles, as well as ripping them from the bone completely.

Once the pain had gone, back in January, i decided to go skating, BIG MISTAKE, after a couple of training sessions, i tore all of the muscles and ligaments again. Now i am in the worst pain imaginable again and will probably be out until around August.

Long story short, BE PATIENT AND BE VERY CAREFUL

Also, i hope you get better soon, i really do know how bad it is not being able to play hockey for ages...

It was a horrific injury. Ligaments shot straight to his knee so all that area swelled up like hell. Massive ambulance job, he had to be lifted from school by helicopter!

:D
