Fourth Line Grind 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Please excuse if there is already a topic for this (couldn't find one), but do the older Jofa 480's have slightly thicker bars or am I on crack? My cage is from a 1999 batch and it lookers a bit thicker than the newer Jofa/CCM ones. Pics for reference:vs.
duch 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Thats something I've noticed as well, the bars on the mask seem just slightly thinner than the older model 480 cages. I don't think it really matters as long as the protection is still there. Probably CCM/Jofa trying to shed a little weight off the mask. It's possible they may have changed to a slightly different metal alloy that is just as strong but makes the mask less front heavy. I still love the Itech Titanium cage but I simply refuse to shell out $200 CDN to get a cage that light. I find the 480 is a great alternative and is acceptably light enough for my needs. Fourth Line Grind 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Thanks for the response duch. Yea in a pefect world I would be wearing a titanium haha, I just can't afford that. The unfortunate part is that no LHS around here carry the 480 cage...I have no idea why. It's not quite as popular here so most stores just stock Itech RBE cages and True Visions. That being said, I haven't checked All Sports Replay, which is where I got my current one. Anyways, cheers heh
DCott 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 I think it's just the white/gray ones that look thicker.
vitaminZ 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 "black is slimming" haha
themooseisloose 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 Very true. That is why Mercury outboard motors are black. When they were first starting out their motors were white. The owner was trying to find a way to make them look smaller. He asked his mom if she had any ideas and she said, "When I want to look slimmer I wear black." The rest is history.
