Need help deciding.

I plan on getting myself a pair of skates with the winnings from my hockey pool.

I am calling on all ModSquaders, preferably ones that have experience with both skates to help me choose.

Easton SE16 or RBK 9k.

If the fit is similar with the 9K-5K and SE16-SE10 then they are very different fits.

I just got fitted for a pair if SE10's, and had tried the RBK 5k's along with several other models.

The heel is much tighter, and I actually felt the pinch on the heel a littled lower than the normal heel lock (I guess this could be to allow the pump to fill out). But pretty uncomfortable.

Width wise they were similar, but there was more volume in the SE 10.

I know they are the step down from what you are asking about, but thought I would offer it

The Fit on those skates is completely different, not even close. You should definitely try them on and go with what works for you. You may even find that you need to expand your search beyond those two brands. Stay open to the possibility that neither may be the best option. If one of them works well, then buy them.

Here is a post I made in a topic I had made a few weeks back looking for advice on skates, I sort of did a quick rundown of what I tried on at the LHS.

I had most manufacturers on my feet less than 2 weeks ago, so if I can offer any help, I will. I am no expert, but I know what was tight where, and what wasn't.

with the price decrease of the s15's go with them. They lock in the heel a ton better than the se16, as well as the liner feels a lot nicer.

Massive difference in fit though, at least to me, I couldn't adjust at all to the feel of the S12 compared to the SE10

Stealth and synergy skates have absolutely different fits.

i didnt notice much difference other than the heel lock.

both were damn comfortable though.
