The BEST Tennis racquet...

Recommended Posts

I've just switched to a liquidmetal prestige. Best raquet I've ever tried. The new wilson n-codes are just as good to. I'd don't like using wide body raquets, it makes a difference in control. For strings I use plain prince synthetic gut, it's not even close to the best but it's what I'm used to.

Shit, thats a tough question. Check out the Babolats, they're a good bet if you got budget (not me :D ). I for one love my Head i. Radical MP, I could serve 100mph pretty consistantly with it, but volleys are a challenge to say the least. Zero power too. Check out tennis.com in the gear section, they do a good job reviewing rackets. Also, I'm gettin Luxilon Big Bangers as my next set of strings. Durable as hell and my friend is loving his set.

Oh yeah, it would help a lot if you told us how long u've played and how good you are at tennis. Lighter/more powerful isnt always good in a racket, sometimes even bad for advanced players lik me and (I think) Eric.

Check out the Babolats

http://tennisexpress.com/racquetpage/racqu....asp?sku=B12063

I just got two of these a few weeks back (well, my parents bought one and I bought the other). I've seen them for as high as $195, but they are on sale for $130 on that site. Damn good deal. The frames have a really nice solid, almost heavy feel to them which took me a while to adjust to, but I have learned to love. The 97 square inch head works really well for me, but that is personal prefrence. As for the strings, I had them put in the Wilson NXT 17 gauge at 60lbs. in both rackets. As of right now, I really can't complain about them; they seem to be holding the tension well. For the money, it is an absolutely incredible racket.

Babolat makes nice rackets. Although they only make wide body. I have trouble using rackets designed for power. I used a Babolat pure drive before I got the liquidmetal prestige and a couldn't control anything. The nicest rackets I've seen are specifically

Head Liquidmetal Prestige

Wilson nCode nSix-One Tour 90

Wilson Prostaff Tour 95 Racquets

True, but i dont think he's that advanced if he asks about rackets on the hockey forum. Those sticks u named are just about as user-unfriendly as it gets. I'd stay away if i was below NTRS 4.0.

Whatever you do, don't mix a Babolat racquet with Natural Gut strings. It would make a total rocket launcher. I use a Prince Original Oversized from 1987 with Luxilon ALU Power strings, but I doubt that you're experienced enough to use that combo yet. Like I suggested to you in AIM, check out a Head Liquidmetal Instinct, or Wilson Surge. They are basically Babolat Pure Drive clones, but cheaper. I'd get the Wilson over the Head though. Then with the Surge I'd put in some type of multifilament string such as Technifibre NRG2 at about 58 lbs. of tension. If you got that it should cost you around $150 shipping included.

Aggasi doesn't use anything near a Pure Drive. Maybe you're thinking of Roddick? Aggasi uses an old Head TwinTube something painted up to look like a Liquidmetal Radical.

I'm looking forward to trying a Pro Staff or a nCode 6-1.

My buddy got three Six-Ones before he went to the Empire State Games earlier this summer. Beautiful rackets. He let me use them in a tournament I played in last month (so long as I paid for the re-stringing). It was damn near impossible for me to go back to my old rackets (Wilson Hyper-Hammer 6.6s with Rollers) after it was over. I was heavily debating between the Six-Ones and the Babolat Aeros for awhile before I decided to go Babolat. Still second guessing my decision, but I think that's natural at this point. I'm happy with the rackets I bought.

I've got a Babolat PureDrive with some prince syn gut strings, and i love it. In terms of the head liquid metal stuff, i hear they arent bad. I personally am not a fan of head. Like jackal, i find that the stringing patterns are not what i like. Also, ambro, isnt the surge quite head heavy where as the pure drive is balanced?

The nCodes are nice, but they had a bit too much power for what I like and not enough spin. Thats why I like my Princes. Not much power but massive spin.

Dude, goin from a hyper-hammer to a six-one is like changing ride from a drag racer to a lotus elise. Hammers are pretty much one of the most powerful rackets out there. And dont get me started with the roller thingies.
