Recommended Posts

Hey, I have read this a few times here and I was just looking to buy a new OPS on ebay and found a bunch of these pro stock sticks. What does it mean?

The Pro Stock stuff found in stores (and ebay) are generally sticks (or other equipment) that were made to a players specifications. If they are brand new, chances are they were rejected by the player for whatever reason. Or, they were made by a company as a sample for the player who ended up using another brand/spec of gear.

If they are used, they were probably bought at a team sale...or were left and sold after a player left town.

If it looks too good to be true, or you can't find a pic of the player using that branmd model...it might be a hoax. Not in all cases (as in my company sample example...) but always on ebay...Buyer Beware.

You also have some manufacturers and retailers that abuse the term to sell more product. There are a lot of products that are called pro stock, that are simply retail product with different colors or a special order item that is unrelated to pro use.

There are alot of people around here that work in the LHS industry that know more than me about this. But I thought the term was used primarly for sticks made and sold to single organizations, without warranty, and not to be resold through retail (or atleast with any type of mfg warranty).

The Div. 1 college teams that I'm familiar with all use "pro-stock" sticks and one EQ told me that there was no "retail" warranty on them, though they did have a deal with their mfg rep with regard to replacements through the university.

At the end TPS was putting pro stock on all of their top end product.

I bought two retail R8's, both with "PRO STOCK" stickers.

They even put pro stock on the R6 because they had a couple guys that preferred those sticks.

I've a bottom of the line R1 with Pro Stock written on it. As far as TPS is concerned pro stock means nothing.
