NBH XXV/40/Lightspeed/Supreme70 Shouldies

Did a search but because these are newer they haven't got alot of reviews. Just curious if anyone can give their experience with them as far as being low profile, and still having good protection?

Get farrells, there beyond any other pair of shoulder pads ever made, there unreal. The movement of a t-shirt and protection up there with the other top end pairs, there also light and not really any more money.

I have the XXXX shoulders. Theyre great for mobility. The fit is also adjustable with a little pull cord, and different slots to feed the velcro straps. So you can choose to have a very tight fit around the chest or a looser fit.

Shoulder caps dont come up very high so theyre quite low profile.

Offers a ton of protection in the front with hard plastic pieces and plastic inserts in in all the dual density foam areas.

Great shoulderpads. I was deciding these over the one90 pads and i got the xxxx's cause they were so much lighter and felt less bulky, but offers just as much protection.

...that is until you catch a slash/crosscheck/puck in between the cubes.

Im going to see if the LHS has some 40's in stock because they do look like the best balance, but i did want to hear some feedback first. I was also considering the XXV just because there isn't much difference and i was sure the jump up to the 40's was necessary.

I was thinking about farrells but i just have my doubts about the actual protection, as far as getting slashed between the cubes wouldn't be a huge deal but there is no sternum protection. And the actual protection on the shoulders isn't much, so if you ran into the boards i wouldn't feel to good about it.

Money isn't really the issue because if they are a really nice quality pad that has great mobility and great protection (all around), the price of something like separating my shoulder is something i can't afford.

Wouldn't mine some 400's if i can pick them up as a second pair for cheap, not sure if anyone even carries them because they are discontinued now. Be nice to have just for some pick up hockey.

I use the XXV's. I wanted some shoulder pads that were going to give me better spine and ab protection than my 5030's but weren't too bulky or made me too warm. They do a great job. My only complaint is that they ride up on me a bit, but every shoulder pad I've tried has done that, and it doesn't ride up anywhere near as bad as my old Itech's did.

See i was thinking of going to the 5030 or Bauer Classics but the sterum protection sketches me out too much. How much do you give up going from 5030 to XXV? Have you ever tried on or played with XXXX

yeah they look a bit thicker, also bigger caps. Might not be a bad thing though cause the extra protection would be worth it.

I really don't mind the XXV's at all, I notice them more than I notice the 5030's, but on the plus side, they don't come untied in the middle of a game and have more protection. I did try on the XXXX's, and from what I remember, they were pretty solid, possibly more flexible in terms of fit, but I didn't want to spend that much on shoulders.

Anyways, the XXV's were far, far better fitting than anything in the Supreme/One line. And they seemed to be more contoured or fit better around my mid section than the model below them, which was just a big piece of foam with shoulder pads.

Yeah i think im going to check out XXV or XXXX, if there isn't a huge difference from the 5030 then the jump would be worth it just to have the extra protection.

The Vapor 40's are my next shoulder pad. They extremely comfortable, extremely mobile, and feel much better then my current 6K's. About sternum protection: The XXXX's have a solid plate to protect your chest and back/spine. I caught a shot just last night and luckily it was a deflection, but it caught the little piece of sternum protection the 6K's offer, so now I'm a believer.

Yeah heat-wise it's a little warmer and mobility-wise it's a little tighter, but it's very comfortable overall.

A huge advantage, beyond the thicker padding and better coverage, is that the material dries out a lot better and doesn't smell or discolor. Those 5030's were disgusting after several months, but the XXV's look brand new still.

My only complaint is the belly pad is detachable, and kept coming undone, so I left it off, and then took a shot to right where the belly pad would have been.

Thats weird, maybe have it stitched back on. On my Supra's the stomach and back pad are rock solid, they still don't want to come off.
