Pick up hockey incident

Recommended Posts

Old man strength? Yeah, watch out for the old guys. At 42, that gives me twenty-two years of dirty tricks and experience on a 20 year old. And, with an ex-wife, I have an unlimited amount of rage that I can tap into at a moments notice.

I've been tripped and cross checked to the floor from behind by a younger guy I play with twice in the last couple of months, and as much as it irks me, I've skated away. I have a family and a job, and I'm not taking any chances with that. If I was twenty something, it'd be different. Your perspective changes as you age.

good point grinder...i must say though. before playoff games, ex-gf (even current gf's who i love alot) and ppl that have pissed you off really does get the aggression going doesnt it.

take care.

I am invited to join a friends pick up hockey scrimmiage on Thursday nights wich consists of a mixture of guys from ages 17 to 40 they all know eachother and I only know a few ppl. I'm in the ice with them every Thursday for the summer. Today there was a 50 year old man playing on the other team on defence and he was stuck on me like a leech I had the puck along the boards and he hits me from behind. I told him to take it easy it's just pick up and he dropped his gloves instantly and started swinging lool I was protecting myself turns out he couldn't connect any punches but I didn't want to hit a 50 year old man. That's my pops age!! I don't go out acting like a tough guy in pick up and after the game I told him let's leave everything on the ice and grab some beers he insisted to fight between dressing rooms.

I will be seeing this guy again next Thursday. Should I punch his lights out? I have respect for elders it's how I was brought up but I don't think I can tolerate this anymore lol.

You did the right thing man. You showed respect to your elder by not getting into an altercation with him. But I would have to agree with some of the members are saying here, it's better to let the event organizer or the facility staff know about the incident that has occurred and let them deal with it in a proper manner. Unless you don't mind getting barred at the place, punching this guy would probably not be the best idea.
