Rivets

Recommended Posts

you should only be able to use them if you have a rivetting machine.

You might want to try tnuts or graf RMS screws if you are doing a self mount.

zfyfe started a really good thread http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...p;hl=conversion

Sprungster described using tnuts for his conversion, but its a good read of 113 pages!

s4gobabygo also did a conversion with heels lift and pics: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...c=45368&hl=

Not as much as you would think. Rivets still cost money, and you're probalby going to have to order them in a larger quantity then you expect.

Different brands can also use different sizes, and the LHS has all of them in stock, saving you a lot of trouble.

There are also two different types of rivets on your skates, you'd have to order packages of both, costing you more money.

This is usually the case with most retail skates (think NBH and CCM/Reebok) but Grafs all use one style of rivet/RMS screw and some clowns even have all copper rivets on their boots.

The logic behind the different rivets is that the copper rivets resist up and down shifting of the tower very well while the standard rivets are very stable at keeping the towers from moving side to side.

Not worth it.

For most skates, you need both steel and copper rivets, as seen here:

http://www.blademaster.ca/products.asp?id=55

As you can see, they come in various lengths, so you'd have to know exactly what you need.

Plus as already mentioned, you will most likely have to buy them in bulk. Unless proven otherwise, I don't think you'll be able to find rivets sold individually.

Spend the few extra bucks and let them supply the necessary rivets, IMO.

You will spend less money, time, and effort if you let the LHS do the mount and supply the rivots...

The shop should charge around $25 for the whole riveting job, parts and labor.

To buy the rivets you need to buy an entire box and without knowing exactly what size you need you might end up with the wrong size.

I find it odd that they even have an option for you to supply your own rivets.
