Nike Bauer ONE95 skates - semi new

Recommended Posts

Nike bauer ONE95

So I was in need of some good skates. The 150$ pair of Easton's I had from my junior year high school ( I'm 23 now ) I don't think can handle the league I'm in anymore.. weak wristers give me really nasty stingers & my skates simply don't have all the new bells and whistles like - stiffness, light weight & over all just better quality material.

This was somewhat of an impulse buy BUT the price lured me in. Besides the fact that I needed new skates- the ONE95 nike bauer series of skates, sticks & 4 roll pro gloves have received nothing but fantastic reviews- I own the gloves & stick & they're just damn good quality. - Back to the skates. I'm aware that the "E" skates are wide fit. I thought that this might be of some use to me for a few reasons: ( the reason for this thread is so you guys could hear my thought and maybe correct a few of them? )

-Although I've been playing with the same easton skates for so many years... My left foot, more than my right... eventually through out the game while I sit on the bench my foot tends to get a little numb. Sometimes it cramps up reallllly bad on the arch of my foot. If I were to take my skate out, it'd be a bitch to put back in because of the pain. It seemed as if my arch got swollen... If I were to leave my foot in the skate during a little foot cramp or a numb like feeling & go on with my next shift- The tingle or the cramp goes away... I think this is because the skate may be too narrow? and even though I don't have extremely wide feet- Could it be that my feet just tend to widen up a bit too much for the skate?

I'm going to give these ONE95's a try. They haven't been baked & they appear to have tons of life in them still... 310 bucks is a steal if you compare them to a 650$ price tag at hockeymonkey.

The skates are 8.4 EE which translates to a wide size 10 boot. Should this width eliminate the cramping I sometimes get?

One more thing I'm not new at skating... I got the skills! :) BUT...

What does a stiff boot offer? this is something I never followed.

I would think a better footbed would eliminate some of that cramping and arch pain.

Do you have access to a pro shop? The One95s fit pretty deep and wide compared to the old Supremes so it is a crap shot.

I live right by a few shops but none that offer full services. I mean these guys do things like insert blades into sticks or saw shafts to a desired height- bake skates... Just the generic stuff. Nothing "pro" like unfortunately :-(

I have tried new foot beds in my easton skates & they've done nothing. It feels as if my foot is trying to expand but the walls of the skate are just not allowing it to.

if anything- I'll make these skates work out, lol. They haven't even been baked yet so this definitely will help some. But the price was a steal.

I'm curious as to what the stiff boot offers? advantages and disadvantages

A stiffer boot will give you more support while skating but if your foot isn't strong enough to flex the boot your game will suffer.

Eh, some random stuff......

Some shock doctor 20 dollar kind

Some ingel kind for about 20 bucks, also. Some cheap stuff also. I'm not spending anymore money on foot bed stuff. nothing will work. its just my footmy easton skate just doesnt accomodate my foot. the walls smush up against my arch and gives me nothing but pain. either way i have to get new skates. these werent meant to see hardcore playing. Not to mention they were uncomfortable if I wasn't moving. Can't take it anymore!

Btw thx mickz for your answer. My foot is strong enough I believe but I'm going to have to get use to the skate by hitting up some open skate public sessions. Thanks for this information, again.

I have the one90s and had a real problem with my feet cramping up and my arch killing me so I did two things. I loosened up the skates in the middle part of my foot (real loose) and I got the superfeet insoles which made a huge ass difference.

on a semi-unrelated note why would someone get a supposedly custom boot (extra stiff) for pro use, but wouldn't go with double stitching which normally is a given for all pro-stocks? just curious, since One95s are like tanks & holding up well for me EXCEPT cuts near eyelets where double stitching would be very handy should I had it...

also as already mentioned One95 are deep & wide already - can't even imagine how big EE fits...

for someone who needs EE skates they aren't that amazingly big. Mine fit shockingly well all things considered but they could have been wider :P
