PiKappaPhi 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2004 hm...plenty is a bit of an overstatement. Where are you moving to? I am well aquainted with the three big cities, macon, augusta, atlanta as I live in augusta and macon andvisit atlanta quite often. PM me and I will be able to help you out. Congrats on moving to the south :)
Tom351 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2004 Yes, North Atlanta has four rinks, the rest of the state has maybe two?I live in Marietta and skate at Parkaire, Ice Forum (both Kennesaw and Duluth), and The Cooler.
SailRace 1 Report post Posted September 23, 2004 Yeah, let us know where you're moving to. If it's the Atlanta area, you should be fine. Savannah has some hockey as well, but they're better known for their inline teams.Parkaire in Marietta just rebuilt and resurfaced the entire facility, and from what i hear, it's some of the best ice in the south now (short of the thrashers facility in Duluth). djinferno 2 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 OK guys, I like in Cumming right now, I'm looking for Ice (As a spare maybe)For now, I'm waithing on a pair of skates from Mission but i'd like to come out and meet someone, anyone to see a game and the calibour of play in your league...Also the rules... Its seems that leagues demand that you have insurance from USA HOCKEY or something like that... We don't have that in Canada....If anyone from the reagion could help me out, it would be very appreciated, I got no friends here and I feel kind of lost.....I know a couple of things, I live 4 exits away from The Cooler (exit 8) off the 400....Thank you,
DekeHead 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2004 Funny that this is mentioned here, because I'm planning on moving back to Athens, GA early next year. I can't wait to get back down to Georgia!I was shocked to learn that Athens still doesn't have a rink, though. The UGA's men's team has to travel to Duluth to practice. Unreal.I am actually contemplating trying to personally open a rink in Athens, maybe just one sheet with the land to add a second later. But I've lived away from GA since 1997 and don't really know if the interest is there to support a sheet of ice. It's a huge capital venture, and besides my love for hockey and skating, I know nothing of the business/maintenance side of the biz.
