Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2009 Which is why I didn't appreciate fieldofdreams getting on his soap box and saying that 1 point or 10 points over is drunk. It's not, there are levels of over the limit, and people can pass field sobriety tests yet still fail BAC tests.

It's not, there are levels of over the limit, and people can pass field sobriety tests yet still fail BAC tests. My soapbox? Excuse me? Maybe I'm wrong, and the law is debateable. If the limit is .08, and you read .08, .09, or .19, you are drunk and should not be driving.Whether you can pass the sobriety tests or not, there is still a preset level at which society must hold themselves accountable, especially when they decide to get behind the wheel. When you make the choice to drive after you have been drinking, (how every many points you are over the limit) you also choose to accept the consequences of your actions. When you make the choice to drive after you have been drinking, (how every many points you are over the limit) you also choose to accept the consequences of your actions. No you are not, you are driving under the influence, hence the name DUI.Drunk means being in a physical and mental state where your faculties are impaired. You can be over the legal limit but your faculties are not impaired. He wasn't drunk, he was over the limit, it's a big difference.Again, I'm not defending stallworth, I'm from Donegal in Ireland, look it up, we have huge drunk driving problems, and I've lost a number of friends to drunk drivers. But you are using the term drunk out of context and out of definition here, and I don't know why it bothers me, but it does. He was over the limit, but not drunk. It might be because what happened was more the product of the guy he hit not being careful, and him not being careful, it's not the same as some asshole getting hammered and running through someone. That's drunk driving. And yes, when you chastise people and call things the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen posted, then go on to post false information, I call that getting up on your soapboxEDIT: and to your second paragraph, I agree, and stallworth has accepted the consequences of his actions, and judgement has been passed along with a sentence in accordance with the state guidelines

pat19 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 Old thread but did anyone see E60 with Stallworth? In court they showed the video and the guy darted out into the street from behind something giving Stallworth less than 2 seconds to react. It was stupid for Stallworth to drink and drive but I don't think his punishment was too lenient. He got more than just the jail time too.
