Sidney Crosby Autographed Oceanic jersey

Recommended Posts

I almost forgot I had it actually. I have a Sidney Crosby autographed jersey and i was curious to see how much it was worth, I'm considering selling it however id like to have some advice, i have no interest in things of that nature, ill probably just pick up a non autographed jersey anyways, so i was curious should i sell it now or hold onto it tell the end of his career? Any advice would be great, thanks.

When Roy hung 'em up I was talking to a guy with an autographed jersey. He was told the best time to sell is right around the last game or when the guy goes into the Hall. That's when they're getting the most press and casual fans are more apt to spend their money.

Yeah, thats kinda what i was thinking. By the way, it was never worn by him i just bought a jersey with his name and number on it and was talking crosby with a lad at my lhs and he said oh im gonna go see crosby tonight want me to get an autograph on a puck or something and then he remembered i had the jersey, drove home got it and he had it done for me, i never actually met him. I know his kid has one too. He collects autographed jerseys and what not.

I can totally understand selling the jersey, especially if you're going through tough times like a lot of us at the moment. But I would keep it if I were you. Personally, I have a Gretzky game worn Kings jersey, signed by him that I have in a frame in my office and I love having it there. I'm sure I could pick up a nice chunk of change for selling it but its worth more to me to have it in its frame and look at from time to time.

I have a Rangers puck signed by Brian Leetch and Alex Kovalev. I accually got to meet them when I was 8 as they showed up at my local rink to sign autographs for the kids. It was a promotion for the 94 All Star game. I keep it in a case in my living room cause it's a cool memory from my childhood and I have a picture of myself as both players signed the puck.

However, if someone signed something and I didn't get the experience of meeting the player there would be no point for me to keep it for show. Also with all the autograph forgery going on I would never buy anything if it wasn't authenticated.

I would go the extra mile and have the signiture authenticated so when you decide to sell it you can get the highest price possible.

How could i go about that? Would i have to take it somewheres to compare the signature with crosbys other ones or something and how much could it cost? Also, how much do you think i could get out of the jersey? Its a brand new jersey stored in plastic in good temperatures but its not game worn.

Spence Authentication. www.spenceloa.com One of, if not THE, top guy in North America. Any serious buyer who knows their stuff would never second guess anything with a Spence Letter of Authenticity. You will have to ship the item to him, and might be a couple weeks, but well worth it.

Once you get the LOA, you should contact me to have it framed. I can direct you to someone that does a top-notch job. Fully encased, airtight, and provides some extras.

EDIT: He can also provide you with an appraisal, so you have an idea of what it would be worth.

I dont like the idea of having it shipped though, where is he located?

As long as you have enough insurance on it the package will be fine. Also don't ship it via Royal Mail, use UPS or FEDEX their tracking service is far superior to any tracking that I have gotten from Royal Mail.

He's located in Parsippany, NJ. I gave you the website, all the info is available there. Just use UPS and insure it. Don't use post office.

Be prepared to have it be a fraudulent signature. Not saying it is or it isn't, but most people aren't ready for bad news.

A hockey memorabilia nut I know tries to take a picture of the athlete while he is signing the actual item. I have no idea how useful that is in ultimately and authoritatively determining an object's authenticity, however, since there is still no guarantee that the item in the photo is the same item being sold.

Im assuming its authentic, the guy who had it autographed has pictures of himself with Sidney Crosby signing pucks and stuff for him and his kids, either way i paid nothing for it so its not really a loss if its not real but im pretty positive it is.

Bingo. For example, I can take a picture of Gretzky signing a jersey for me, then make 25 copies of that picture, forge his signature on 25 jerseys, and VOILA! I have 25 signed jerseys, with pictures of 99 signing it.

As with all sports memorabilia it's only worth as much as what someone is willing to pay. Look around on eBay and see what similar jerseys have sold for to get a ball park range. Keep in mind LOAs and COAs don't mean anything unless they were issued by a credible company.

I've heard of some less than accurate opinions by Spence from others with NFL autographs. As a sidenote... if you look on eBay at the '08 Favre Pro Bowl jerseys take a peek at the ones showing him signing the jersey. It's my jersey being signed, lol. I can tell you the exact day it happened. And you'll notice the jersey is a game-cut style; not the crappy knockoffs actually being auctioned. Plus, you'll see my letter sitting on the desktop with a photocopy of the jersey number showing where I'd like/what I'd like signed on it. I hooked up with the owner of a store in WI that also happens to be the man who flew/arranged flights for Favre. Sent him the jersey and he took it to MS and had it signed along with other items on a trip there. I'll probably sell it since he didn't actually play in the game. I have another home jersey with his auto/an inscription along with some gamer pants and rare Favre cards in a display frame. Only auto'd hockey stuff I have is a few signed programs from the old Iowa Stars. Gilles Gilbert and a couple others are on it if I remember.
