tape alternative reviews/ suggestions

I'm looking for something for use with both playing and refereeing hockey. Does anyone have any experiences with using the velcro straps or Viceroy Shin Tights? I'm considering ordering but wanted to know if anyone had used them and didn't need to use tape as well.

I had the WSI shin sleeves and they worked well when I used them. I also had velcro straps but used them even more infrequently. Just get a pair of shin pads with straps that fit and you don't need either. Both of those are just one more piece of gear to lose or leave at home.

I have a pair of the Viceroy shin tights, they worked fine with my older Cooper shins (Old). When I upgraded to Jofa 8060's, they squeezed them so tight that the front of my shins would hurt. They have been relegated to the old hockey gear I don't use pile. I just go with straight up tape now.
