Cutting Inno Megalyte OPS (broken) to take a blade

Recommended Posts

I have a broken Inno Megalyte (snapped it on the crossbar one game  ) It is broken about 6" up from the blade, so it would make a perfect length stick for my wife to use, if I can put a new comp blade in it. it is a bit frayed, but I think a clean cut can be made of it. Anyone have experience with this stick in regards to this? I know from other posts, some sticks are good for this, others are not.

Unfortunately, I think you probably broke it in the middle of the taper- meaning you would have to cut a good chunk more off to fit a standard blade, and it's almost certainly too wide for a tapered blade.

In order for that to work, you have to have a stick that's broken at the blade. If you're up the shaft much at all you're screwed.

What you can do however, is try to get the blade out since that would probalby still be good. With the Dolo (which I believe the megalyte is the same as- somebody correct me if I'm wrong), you can heat and remove the blade like a normal two piece, just with a higher temperature since they use a resin instead of hot glue. If you can do that, I think you'll find yourself with a tapered blade that you can use in a new shaft.

But unless you go the SRS route, I don't think you can salvage the shaft.

Agreed with the guy above, but if she doesn't really care about the difference the taper makes on her shots, then you could always flip the shaft and put a standard blade in there. If you need to lengthen the stick, you can try and put a junior plug into the tapered end.

One can remove the blade from any ops whether it is a one piece or a two piece. Just cut it off! :P The real question is whether or not you can functionally insert a blade after you do it.
