taking 8mm to my PC

Recommended Posts

I had to tape something for work and now they want me to edit it on my PC and load it to youtube. How do I get the 8mm onto my PC. Firewire??? USB did nothing but I do have a DV slot. Is that where a firewire would go? Do I need anything else?

Please help, I have to do this tomorrow!!!

Definitely thought he was gonna shoot it as well.

An 8mm can be a problem, I have all my graduation camping trip on 8mm tapes and no way to get them off. I know there are small booths in the mall that will convert to dvd for you, (at a price). Other option if you have it is to playback on your tv and record to a dvd recorder. Last suggestion would be to playback on your computer (which seems to be the part your stuck at) and use any sort of video capture software to record it. What kind of camera is it?

Solved it! For any others looking to do the same, I just had to buy a firewire card and firewire. Of course, to do this your camera must have a DV in/out port. If so, the card and cord cost $32 bundled.
