Help we fitting a customer with special needs

Recommended Posts

Ok First time I ever started a topic so not sure I did it right but hopefully so.

So here's the deal, The customer is a good friend of mine and his son has two very different sized feet. One measures a yth size 11 and the other is a jr size 3(thats in skates bauer chart)Is there anything I could do besides making custom skates for him. He is about to grow out of the adjustable ones so now I have no other ideas. My biggest concern is if we did two different size skates the one blade is going to be so much longer then the other.

Any suggestions will help

By the way he is only a mite

Yes, I have a customer with a growth disorder that is pretty much like what you describe. he has one foot that grows real slow, and the other is normal. He wears a junior size 5 skate and a senior 8 now. He's been my customer for years and what I've done for his last 4 pairs of skates is to simply sell him two pairs (at cost) one size to fit the small foot and a bigger size to fit the big foot.. When he outgrows them, sometimes the bigger skate will now fit the small foot and he only has to buy 1 pair. He's in high school now. If you want to go custom....manufacturers will only do customs on high end skates, something mite parents don't want to spend money on. So buying 2 pairs of a lower end skate is a much cheaper option and it works fine. The short blade on one skate has not effected him at all. I radius them to match, that seems to work.

Exactly - I had someone in my old shop whose son had a club foot. That was exactly what had to be done, they were too small for customs.

One of the manufacturers fulfilled a request by selling us unmatched pairs, however I will not disclose which company that was as I am not sure if it was a common practice, but that shouldn't stop you from trying.
