Half Shield/Visor Installation

I was wondering, is it normal to have to pull slightly outward on a half shield when mounting the half shield onto a helmet? Also, since I have to pull outward on the half shield to increase the width of the half shield, is using the spacers optional and not mandatory anymore?

More specifically, while wearing my Bauer 5100 Hockey Helmet in size large, I notice when placing the Bauer Straight Cut Half Shield (formerly the Itech Visor HS22 Straight Cut) in front of my face that I’ll have to pull slightly outwards on the half shield to get the half shield into place. So before I actually mount the half shield onto my helmet, I just wanted to get some advice or opinions on what’s normal, what's optional, and what's mandatory when mounting a half shield onto a helmet. Normal, did the same with mine, leave the spacers in as well.

the hs22 prowave cut is a bit of a bitch to put on! hopefully the straight cut is much easier for you.

Thanks for replying. Since I'm experiencing a slight pinch on my temples, is it okay to remove the spacers and mount the half shield without it or will this result in damage to my helmet or the half shield?

Nevermind with the above question, the slight pinch on my temples have gone away. Though, I do I have another question. Is it only with my Bauer Straight Cut Half Shield or is it with all half shields/visors in general that they aren't symmetrical? After wearing my hockey helmet with the half shield mounted on around the house for a bit, I noticed that my half shield was (slightly) unevenly mounted. Consequently, I spent quite a bit of time trying to even both sides out before coming to the realization that the slots on both sides of the half shield weren't positioned in the same spots from the ends of the half shield.

Try the Oakley spacers. I got them from my LHS. I did that today with my Bauer 5100 helmet and HS22 aviator today.

Actually, I got tired of the troubles with regard to mounting the Bauer Straight Cut Half Shield that I upgraded to an Oakley Pro Straight Visor. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I've never used spacers, just kind of forced the oakley visor on. Maybe that's why my last one exploded from that shot to the face, then tension was just too much. Is their any statistical data to use spacers as opposed to not using them? Other then my example which is just speculation, I'm sure the visor would have gone regardless.
