Skate Sizing (Charts) by Brand and Country and...

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow MSH'ers,

I'm a rookie here, so I hope I am not making a big mistake with this thread. I did do a search for a thread on this, but no thread exactly matched this. There are various charts in different threads and I am not sure if they all agree with one another or not, so I thought that it would be a good idea to put any that you have in this ONE thread so that we can discuss and confirm our experiences.

Some background about what has motivated me to start this thread: My normal position is goaltending, but I am about to sign up as a player for the first time in a league. I rarely play out since I started playing goal about 10 years ago, so I am about to update some of my player gear. Skates is wear I plan to start first. I am currently in a very old pair of CCM (547 I think) size 8. They fit very snug and I think I wear size 42 EU or 9 CDN. I also have a pair of Graf 704 (I believe) in size 8.5R. Unfortunately when I bought them, I didn't realize that they are one of the most narrow skates by Graf, and I am almost totally given up on them. (I may try to bake them one more time...)

BTW, I am considering a pair of Kor Shift 1 or 2, Torspo Surge 221, or one of those recent Easton S series skates.

My concern here is that if I buy a pair of skates from the US, isn't there a different sizing there compared to Canada? It can get really confusing.

Please post your charts or feel free to comment.

Thanks.

Hockey Monkey and Hockey Giant both have some sizing charts. Your best bet might be to wait till you get back to Toronto and try some on at a local shop That is the only way you will really get the best fit.

At least the thread title doesn't have "Official" preceding it. :P ;)

I wasn't sure if I should be practicing GSBB etiquette on here. :D

There is no way for anyone to know sizing for sure. No two people have the exact same size feet, even if they do wear the same skate size and in these topics you often see far more bad advice than good. So, primarily for those two reasons, I'm going to shut this one down.
