I know if you use 80mm on skates you will have to dremel, but how about if you use 78mm? Has anyone tried?

You could do that, but then one of your wheels wouldn't touch the floor either. May as well just remove it and save the weight.

Theoretically, I would assume this would work to have all 78mm wheels (although I have not tried it myself to know) but you would decrease one of the biggest advantages of having the Hummer frame, which is the larger wheels and contact patch with the floor.

Wow, I clearly misunderstood the question, but... yeah the whole point of the hummer frame is to run larger wheels. Aside from that there's pretty limited selection of wheels that actually come in 78mm.

True, but I use RR, so I don't care about wheel selection. Sure, they're smaller than 80mm wheels, but they would be bigger then what a lot of others run on converted skates (76mm)

I picked up a set of 78mm RR Hornets and have used them for a couple games on my hummer chassis. I have already dremmeled my boots, but from eye-balling it, it will be a tight fit using 78mm wheels. I think you're going to have to pioneer this one.
