RBK Skate Question ?

Recommended Posts

All right, I bought some white 9k's in mid march. I came from a Vapor XXXX. My 9k's are size 7.5 E and my XXXX's were 7.5 EE.

Everytime I skate in my 9k's I have sore feet about 15 minutes in to the skate also, they come loose very easily gotta tie them 1 or 2 times on the bench and when I come off the ice my heals seem to lift and the skates feel real big.

What's the problem with my skates? I would of bought X:60's having known this. <_<

The problem is the 9K is a different fit from the Vapor skate. The 9k has a wider heel and a wider toe box. You may have to go down a half size to get a proper fit. I can wear an 8 in a Bauer skate but can go down to a 7.5 or a 7 in a Reebok or CCM skate comfortably depending on the make of the skate. Not all manufacterers are the same when it comes down to skate sizes, there is a slight variation in different brands from year to year so you may need to tinker a bit to get your proper fit.

I have the 9K and love them. I did put shockdoctor inserts and changed to wax laces which addressed two of the issues you mentioned. They are "big" and have more room, for those with wider feet like myself they fit perfectly.

Hugely different fits, very different sizing systems. You probably need a D width, and probably a smaller length as well.

That's why you should always try on skates, or at least learn more about them before you buy.

how about the width? im in EE one75 and wanna go with E width Rbk.

Also i'm in size 8 and i think i can go down to 7.5 in bauer.. Would it be safe if i take size 7 Rbk?

It's a matter of personal preference. I can go down to a seven in RBK and my toes just touch the toe cap. I also wear an E in a RBK or CCM skate. I can fit into a D width but then I go up to a seven an a half. I used to have a pair of Vapor XXII's which I fit nicely in a D width because of the variation in fit. So as you can see you really should go into a LHS and try on any pair of skates you are planning to buy. There can be many variations in fit from skate to skate and year model to year model.

I went down half a size when i got my 9k's coming from 705's, it felt ok at the same size but when i went down that half size it just made it that much better.
