New Gloves - Currentkly on Easton Ultra-Lites

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm currently using a pair of 6/7 year old Easton Ultra-Lite gloves (i think that the model)

I have nowhere local where i can try other gloves on so i dont know what will be a similar fit.

Anyone know about the Ultra-Lite fit?

Anyone know what gloves are similar?

Have Easton changed fit since back then?

thanks a lot,

Rich

:)

Well, the thing with gloves is that it's not critical. There are loose fit gloves and tighter fit gloves, and a few variations on that. if you know your size, it's a pretty safe purchase if you know the fit of the glove you're getting.

The Synergy line in Easton has a looser, traditional 4 roll fit, and the stealths are some of the tightest gloves on the market. I'm guessing you want the Synergys, but I've never tried on a pair of Ultralites so I don't know how loose they are, but as they're a 4 roll style I'm guessing they're looser. You would know that though, and you can make the call.

But if the length is right, most gloves will fit on your hand pretty well and you'll be able to at least wear them.

Ah yeah length is my other problem - my current gloves are 13.5" i think. They seem ok but i wouldnt know any better.#

I just got some new elbows (ccm V08) so should i see if there is a gap now, and if so, go for 14/14.5" gloves?

Only problem with that is you will start to run into gloves with fingers that are too long. There are gloves with different fits just like skates, with shorter fingers, longer cuffs, etc etc. Best thing to do is stick to what you know. You wear a 13.5, I wouldn't go past 13 or 14.

If you're in 13.5"s, the evaluate how the fit is on the gloves you have. Are they a little too long or too short on the hand? That should tell you what size you need. The gloves are made to fit the hand, get either a 13 or a 14. Don't even think about the elbows. Some gloves will have shorter cuffs, longer cuffs, the lengths of the elbows will be different and if you buy a glove to come up to the elbow, you'll probably wind up with one that will be too big for you- the fingers will be too long, the glove will be too wide, ect.

As for figuring out how good a fit they are, fingers are a great guide in general. If your fingers don't reach all the way to the end, the glove is too large. In your case, you would be getting a 13 in that case. If the fingers are too short, then you need to get a longer glove and go for the 14.

Gloves are really pretty simple.

my gf is devoted to her Easton Ultra Lites. the damn things are falling apart faster than I can fix them with Mighty Mendit. :)

that said the ONLY gloves I've gotten for her as backups that she's liked are Warrior Dolomites. for some reason she doesn't like the feel of four roll gloves. so far I've been willing to overlook that. ;)

Your girlfriend's right.

Seriously though, most 4 rolls are pretty wide, and I very much doubt that that would fit the hand of most girls. I personally can't stand gloves like the Bauer 4 roll.

No-one had ultra-lites then?

Looks like it might have to be a risky online purchase for me then (no lhs)

Hi Rich,

I replied to your message last week but apparently it was removed by the powers that be. I had some Ultra Lite Pros on ebay and would have shipped them to you in the UK if you won. But I think I must have broke a MSH rule by offering the link. Anyway, they sold already tonight so I don't have them anymore. Sorry.

I used to have '02-'03 13.5" Ultra Lite Pros and they were the best fitting glove I have ever wore. I lost them in a house fire and then search endlessly to replace them. I now wear the Eagle X70i and have been really happy with them -- the closest thing I found to the overall fit of my old Ultra Lites. So I highly recommend them.

The X70i is an "intermediate" glove but they fit more like a 13" glove of today's model (I think they are technical 12.75"). If you like a more supple fit, you might want to get the senior model. But if you decide to go with the X70i, I noticed Hockey Monkey has some blemished or "misprinted" models for $30-$40 off. Even with shipping that's a freaking steal! Let me know if you want me to be your middle man and I'll help you out!
