Bauer Flexlite 4.0 Stiffness

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

Questions for those who own, or tried on the 2009 Flexlite 4.0's (retail, not Pros). I'm currently shopping for some new wheels and I was drawn to the 4.0's right away because of their styling. I personally think they are great looking skates when compared to alot of the moon boots that are now in production. Unfortunately, because they aren't the Vapors, or Supremes none of my LHS' carry them in stock, leaving me having buy before trying and most likely not being able to return them. So i've searched a lot online at reviews and asked some people who own them about certain qualities/negatives for these skates. The biggest ones right now are that they are super comfy, great for wide feet and toe structure and deep. All of these attributes are things that I would want in a skate given my foot build. However, the only negative is that they aren't as stiff as Vapors or Supremes, which in my opinion are almost too hard, like skating in a cast.

With my weight, (6.2/280) i'm a little worried about it. But if they aren't abnoramlly soft in the boot support I will most likely order them.

Can anyone help me out. I'm coming from Mission Fuel 85's (absolutely shitty skate, I had original Amp 6s which were beautiful skates, went back to missions thinking the build quality was still there, ha was I wrong) as a comparison.

Thanks for the help.

mission and flexlite are an absolutely different fit

Yes, I know that. I'm not looking for fitment comparisons, rather stiffness in boot structure. The 4.0's will definitely "fit" my style of foot better than my current missions, I was just stating what I had to give a comparison for stiffness. Odds are there aren't many people going from Missions to Flexlites, but nonetheless the more info the better.

The 4.0 should be more than enough skate for you. There is alot of support there, they just don't have all the bells and whistles of the 4.0 pro. Unless you're on the ice playing four or more times a week, the 4.0 should be fine. Take care of them and air them out and your skates will take care of you. If it really concerns you, the 4.0 Pro is available at retail.

Thanks, after hearing feedback from the LHS and various websites i've decided that I'll most likely order them this week. I'm just waiting to hear back from the Bauer rep to see which skate would be better to use as a sizing comparison, once that's done I'll be sending in my order.

guys, so I don't hijack the thread, what exactly is flexposite, because a friend of mine tore some outside liner from the boot and there was plastic. Is flexposite just a "smarter" piece of plastic or something different?
