Inno Novius

Recommended Posts

After my triflex broke, i finally made up my mind, and picked up a innovative novius shaft with soft grip + double concave. I got it at national sports for 109.99 CDN, and it came with a free "louisville pro stock XX wood blade". It came with a standard blade, but the guy there really didnt kno0w anything about hockey, and he just threw in a balde for free, and i was wondering how would i tell if it was tapered or standard. It says 24-300L on the panel. Thanks, sorry if this is a bad question.

Just flip it so the blade looks like its in upside down. A tapered shaft wouldn't accept a standard blade without cracking and tapered shafts are generally longer. I haven't examined alot of Inno Tapered shafts, but with the Synthesis and some others I can see a definate taper towards the bottom.

If it is a taperd shaft and you flip it, i think you need to put a standerd blade in it, because the taperd will be too small, because only one end is taperd.

The boron spine will be stiff so your stick is now stiffer than it generally is. I have never been a huge Novius guy, but I believe the boron spine is more for protection from slashes and such so have it on the wrong side is a waste and will make the stick stiffer, but shouldn't really effect the performance.

The few places online that used to carry them are out of stock oof them, and have been for quite some time. cupulosports.com lists them for $119, but they are out of stock as well. I bought two, and got the bad news in my email the next day.

Obviously the "300L" stands for 300 flex, left handed. If I remember correctly, the "24" means that it is standard. I believe the tapered code is "30".

im about to return this for a right handed tapered shaft. does anyone know if it is possible to use a standard blade in a tapered shaft? or should i just jump the one i received with the standard shaft

EDIT - i just returned this for a right handed tapered inno, and just realized how dumb my question was.

yes but even if i did put a long hosel'ed blade into the shaft, the length of the stick would need to be cut again, and after being cut, it would not be long enough for tapered blades. but im happy with my combo right now, i recieved a 30-260R Tapered Novius with soft grip and i added a easton synthesis hybrid blade, and i have another r2 woodie waiting to be used. =\ i just wish inno composite blades werent so pricy

Do you live in Canada? The Hockey Shop in Surrey, BC has pro stock tapered short-hosel innos (unmarked) for $40 CAD.

I got a synthesis shaft the other day and I flipped the shaft for it to be standard due to the price of tapered blades in my neighborhood. I got a blade for $20 and it is a nice curve. Once I have money for a tapered blade I'll get one.

yea, i feel that composite tapered blades are way overpriced, and this is probably because the demand for them has risen alot in the past year. I mean why does a ZCarb blade cost 60 dollars while a smaller Synthesis blade with less material cost 85. From what i know, the contruction of the blades are the same (if not what are the differences). Anyways, im trying out alot of wood tapereds now....anyone know what BAUER and INNO pattern is closest to the Thackuk(sp?).

Inno: Federov is very, very similar. 4.5 lie.

Bauer: Nothing really. The p106 is a heel curve with a 5-ish lie but is about another 1/4 inch deeper than the Tkachuk

i really wish i had the money for an inno federov now =\, ive heard great things about a novius+inno blade combo, and the synthesis hybrid is heavy as a hell

The pm9 from Bauer is actually pretty close to the modo and federov inno
