wood blade weight

Recommended Posts

has anyone weighed various wooden blades, or does anyone know if this info already exists somewhere? i've been making custom patterns out of some woodies i have laying around, but i miss the light weight and shaft properties of my one and two-piece sticks. can someone suggest a lightweight blade i can use for customizing to use with a shaft?

I think it would vary with the blade... based on my limited hockey experience, the thickness of the blade and the length are definitely going to be factors. I've had numerous wood blades in the past year, and the only ones i've found to really have the same weight as the composites are my mission prostocks... let me know if you want some, i've got a couple i wanna get rid of.

i'm in the same boat.... the weight difference from one blade to the other is pretty minimal and therefore barely noticable... my main objection to the wood blades is that it totally throws the balance off. i usually throw a wood plug in there to offset it. i'd rather have a heavier stick thats balanced as opposed to a lighter stick thats all out of whack.

the problem i'm seeing is that i have 5 wood blades, but their weights vary by quite a lot, ranging from 198g to 337g, which can mean the difference between a great stick and a useless chunk of heavy lumber. the light ones can't be bought anymore (both montreal unlabeled). so i'm hoping i can find something else on the light side. obviously different patterns have different weights, but i was hoping something like the one95 would be a little on the thinner side, and make better use of lightweight materials to be lighter across all patterns. it can't have too much carbon though, or i won't be able to work with the pattern as well.

do you happen to have a gram scale? my goal is to make a very light 2pc with a custom wood blade.
