Warped composit stick

Recommended Posts

I was going through some of my old gear and grabed an old True 1 I've had for who knows how long, 2007. Anyhow I was messing around with the stick and noticed that it seemed off. So I looked down the shaft and it was warped/bowed. I thought I was seeing things and then I layed it on the ground and sure enough it was bowed. Not a lot but enough to tell, thats for sure.

Anyhow whats the cause of this? I'll add that it's a 260 flex as well.

I had a few Vapor XXX and a Mac Daddy that were all warped. They were all 77 flex, RH, P91 patterns.

I don't know if there is any truth the what a LHS employee told me a few years back when I bought a Easton shaft, but he told me that everytime I changed the blade I should rotate the stick a 180 degree so the shaft would get flexed somewhat evenly during normal use. So everytime I'd change the blade I'd make sure what side of the stick was facing forward and turn the stick 180 degrees and put the new blade in that way and never had a shaft warp on me. Maybe it's just a urban legend though... who knows.

No, though I do recall hearing a couple people mention that. None of the R8s that I have left appear to have any bow in them at all, including the S flex that is now whipped out to an 80 or so. Most of the torqued shafts that I saw were the original rubber shafts. Most of them had been well used for a long period of time before looking like that though.

Are you referring to the 1st Gen. TPS Response sticks? If so, your statement is incorrect. There is another reason why they looked "warped."
Some people had the same complaints about the first generation TPS shafts.

So whats the cause of it? It's not like I used it allot to say the least. It was to stiff for me so I just sat on it. I actually tried to sell it on here a while ago. Good thing I didnt.
